Camping in Tikal

I am traveling to Guatemala. One of the first places we are going is Tikal. I'm curious about camping there and getting there. I don't really want to spend a couple hundred dollars flying there from Guatemala City, so I was wondering about a bus or renting a car. Also, do you need to make a reservation to camp. Can I just rent a hammock so I don't need to bring a tent? Any info would be nice. Thanks
