we saw some interesting cerimonies taking place at the ruins as it was the Mayan new year and people came to the ruins to celebrate

a local tree often refered to as the blistered tourist as the bark looks like a tourist who is burn in the sun and then blisters

there was a small zoo on the grounds of the ruins where we were able to see some of the native animals.

Stone sculpture on a sacred toad. The toads had a chemical under their skin which the mayan's used to put themselves in a mystic state

a sample of a living fence. The posts are put into the ground and then root and sprout branches so that most of the fences are made up of living trees and bushes

the trees are cut in a spiral and the rubber drips into little buckets which are then collected.

The sides of the road yeild many plants growing wild, bamboo is one of these plants, they grow like weeds.
