Mon., August 10, 2009 - Pitstop in Sosua before going to Cabarete Our four hour bus ride from Santo Domingo was very comfortable and relaxing. The tour bus temperature was set perfectly, the seats reclined and everyone on board was easy going. My sister sat next to her husband and a young man was kind enough to exchange seats with me so that I could sit next to my cousin. The scenery during the entire ride was of green country side (except for a quick pass through Santiago), which was a nice change from being in the city. I have seen some recent posts here from Cabarete. Cabarete is a great little tonw on theNorth Coast of the DR. It is famous for both Wind Surfing and Kite Boarding. A few years back I shot some Kite boarding on Kite Beach in Cabarete the day before the Grand Prix. It was tough shooting video in obviously heavy wind, while shooting full telefoto and standing in the surf. The Kite Boarding Video came out pretty decent and we posted it on www.dr-tourist.tv Cabarete also has a bunch of bars and restaurants right on the beach. Many are a bit overpriced tourist type places, but they can be fun and the food is decent. Across the main road there are some more affordable places to eat.
