Today we were up early for our trip to Bocas del Toro, Panama. We are travelling with our friends Karen and Steve. We are all presently living in Costa Rica, so this will be a short flight. Panama is the country south of Costa Rica. Bocas del Tora is located on the Caribbean side of Panama. Bocas del Toro means " mouth of the bull". There are many banana plantations in Bocas del Toro and they are often referred to as " green gold". Also some of the largest rain forests in all of Central America are found around Bocas del Toro.
Upon arrival at Bocas Town airport we caught a taxi into town. We visited a local grocery store to pick up a few provisions and then caught a water taxi to Bastimentos Island. We will be staying in a villa at Red Frog Island Resort. The taxi ride to the island took us about fifteen minutes. Bastimentos Island is about 20 square miles in size. Once arriving we climbed into our "Jungle Cart" ( golf cart ) to travel up to our villa on the unpaved dirt roads. Our villa was located in a lush jungle setting.
