Question: How has equality in Costa Rican changed between male and female?

Men in Costa Rican were the dominant person in the relationship. They expected their spouse to dress pretty and where make up. In addition, the woman was to do house work. In turn, the man would show his appreciation by complimenting her. The female was not allowed to date or sleep with another man; in contrast, the man did. It gave the man some pride to know he could have two women without having complaints. Times have changed this custom, though.

Males and females are treated a little bit more equally; however, they still have differences. The cheating and lying still happens, but now the woman has a say in the matter. Women have their own income and are no longer just the house wife. Men still savor the occasional beau. On the other hand, the female has her independence, unlike past time Costa Rica. Gender equality is constantly improving as time progresses.
