Montezuma. Beautiful Beaches and Village

The Luna Llena hotel, located 100m above Montezuma village has been a great place to bring this 2mo. back-packing trek to a close. As in most of these Central American Hostel/Hotels, there’s always lots of interesting travelers from around the globe, generally leaning left of centre, and especially amongst the Americans who abhor Trump. You fall asleep and wake up to a chorus of howler monkeys; the sun emerges out of the ocean to the east. Over breakfast playful capuchin monkeys race across the banana palms onto the dining room roof to stare down at you sipping Costa Rican coffee…ohh and,…..but just try catching one of these monkeys on camera. There are iguanas everywhere in the trees and dusty paths. Lots of crazy bird life, too.

Down on one of Montezuma’s many beautiful beaches there’s a cool breeze for an early morning swim. Look up and you see the turtle hatchery that’s supposed to be releasing hundreds of hatchlings any night this week; but just don’t know when. Back to Luna Llena for self catered lunch and siesta, then off to the Montezuma waterfall for a cool swim in the base pool. Tonight when it cools off ‘round 10:00pm, they’re supposed to close off traffic in the village for a street party -- lots of fire dancers, music and beat. I’m on a bus tomorrow at 6:30am, on my way out, heading for cooler climes. Talk to you soon. Cheers. Pete

your photos
Hi Peter, Your photos make me remember what it was like to feel warm. I guess I'll get to experience that again firsthand when summer arrives here in 5 months or so. Glad you are having such a great trip!
