Up and at it early in the rainy morning we made our way to the San Jose airport for our flight to the Dominican Republic. Stood in line for about an hour only to find out that our flight had been delayed due to heavy rain the night before. The delay would cause us to miss our connection flight in Panama City. Our only choice was to fly into Santo Domingo and Copa would transfer us to Punta Cana from there, about an hour cab ride away. We took our free breakfast coupons and went to wait for the flight. 2 flights and about 6 hours later we were in Santo Domingo . . . but where was our transfer? There was no sign or anyone waiting for us. By luck, we saw a lady from our flight and it turns out she was headed to Punta Cana as well. After voicing our anger at the Copa representative for almost leaving without us, we find out that it not in fact a 1 hour drive but instead 3 hours! As Ryan is trying to explain that we were told that it would be a 1 hour ride, the taxi driver, with

Puerto Viejo Costa Rica. Megan and the bags in it, starts to drive away without Ryan! Angry, disappointed and tired we begin our journey to Punta Cana. Bumping along pot whole roads, zipping through dodgy back alleys, seeming like the ride was never going to end. But we finally arrived to the Bahia Principe in Punta Cana. We had been to Punta Cana earlier this year, in Feb, and have been looking forward to going back. Our friends, Lisa and Ken, were getting married there and it served as the perfect excuse to go back. Right after our arrival, we met up with Lisa, checked into our room and was off to have dinner and drinks. The resort itself was huge! A bit too big actually. There were something like 30 different villas, 3 pools, a disco, karaoke bar, shops, about 9 restaurants and buffets, a mini golf course and soccer field. It was so big that they had mini buses that ran constantly between the villas. The largeness of the resort was good in that there were lots of choices for food and things to do in the day time. The downside of the size was that there was no interaction with the

The Happy Couple staff and no chance of getting to know them. In February we stayed at a smaller resort, Barcelo, and were able to meet the bartenders and night after night talk to them and get to know them. It was nice to walk up and already have your drink ready for you but at Bahia there were just too many people to have this happen. The next few days were filled with tough decisions . . . beach or pool? Beer or margarita? Eat now or later . . or both! The wedding day was on Monday, the 20th. A scorching hot day with bright blue skies. The wedding was set right on the white sand beach, with the crystal blue Caribbean in the background. As the invited guests gathered and waited for the ceremony to start, a crowd of strangers also started to gather and set up beach loungers waiting for the big event. There must have been about 50 people laying sitting around in their bathing suits. Lisa looked amazing as she walked down the sand, while a friend sang ´At Last´. The ceremony was done in Spanish, then translated in English. It was a beautiful ceremony, just look

At the Japanese restaurant ..... Sake to me! at the pictures! We were only suppose to stay for 5 days but Copa extended our stay by 2 days for the flight inconvenience. We had a great time! It was so much fun to just relax in one place, catch up with friends and have all the food and booze we wanted. Overall, we all agreed that the resort itself and the location is 5 star but the staff and service is 3 star. The grounds and rooms and food are impeccable. Little things though, like the wedding dinner not being ready even though we were 15 minutes late, and inconsistencies, like getting one piece of info from one person only to hear from another something completely different, made it seem as thought the 5 star rating wasnt quite accurate. Sad to see our time in Dominican come to an end, we leave with great memories and wish the biggest congratulations to Lisa and Ken. Most people wouldnt complain about leaving Dominican to fly back to Cost Rica . . . and neither are we. We are in Puerto Viejo soaking up the sun in this sea side town. The rainy season has finally ended, and it is getting

Our chef preparing prawns! into the busy season. Music can be heard pouring out from the town restaurants and bars as we laze by the pool. We have found an amazing hotel. Casa Verde has small but clean rooms with porches with hammocks out front. The hotel itself is situated amongst beautiful tropical landscape and has a great pool. We leave here tomorrow and head into Panama City. Probably just going to have time to check out the canel before we fly to Equador, South America. We have enjoyed our time in Central America and are looking forward to seeing what South America has to offer.
