This is a really nice family we met at the beach with a son the same age as our boys.

Look closely at the windows on this tower. You may be able to see that they are wider on the outside than on the inside, making it easier to shoot in than to shoot out of this would-be fortress. Oops. The motif of this tower is repeated everywhere -- still not sure if this is done out of pride or humor.

Max and Frank were soaked to the skin by the time we got to the falls, not from the waterfall but the aguacero (downpour) that started as we descended the steep cliffs to get there. Exhilarating! (subtext: Frank was ready to kill me for bringing him there.)

The boys loved sailing with Mimi and Papa in Guanacaste. As you can see, Marcus wasn't scared a bit. (Of course, Frank never let go.)

Now we are all packed up to return to the U.S. for a long-awaited visit with friends and family. But we'll be back for more adventures, so stay tuned!
