Hello all and welcome to my 3rd week in Costa Rica! It ‘s actually the end of my 3rd week and im about to start my 4th and final week in Costa Rica - Flamingo Beach. At the end of this week I leave Flamingo Beach and go back to San Jose where I fly to Argentina. So I’m a little bit sad to be leaving Flamingo Beach I’m also really excited about heading to Argentina!!! Ok so before I give you the run down on my crazy Costa Rican week I need to tell you all about something one of the boys at school said to me today - his name is Casper and he is really sweet and I think or more so I hope that when he made this remark he didn’t actually mean anything bad! He said, “You remind me of the lady of the Australian TV show, the one with the two ladies and the fat friend - I think and the husband in the show is not very bright!” At my best bet he is referring to Kath and Kim and I’m not so sure how I feel about being likened to people in
that
Jamie & Payne at the Beach
show!!!! But then again last week one of the boys here Kyle decided that I reminded him of Feebie from Friends at the time I wasn’t sure how I felt about that especially because the name Feebs has kinda stuck with several of them but in hindsight I much prefer Feebs to Kath from Kath & Kim! Ok so for my weekly update I left you last time before my weekend to Liberia. So we headed off on Saturday on our trip to Liberia caught the bus, which took about 2hrs, but it was ok. When we arrived at the hotel we put our bags in the rooms and I realised that I had somehow and I had no idea how lost my wallet! We called the bus lines but they didn’t have it so I had to send the first good part of the trip sorting out cancelling my cards ect ect!!!! Not a great start to the weekend but luckily for me I was travelling with a really good group of people who were amazing in helping me out with money for the rest of the weekend ect - I don’t
know what I would have done if
Us at the beach!
I had been on my own! So thanks everyone your all great!!! So once I got through that I had a really good time in Liberia we went out for dinner and then went to a club after. The best part of the evening was when we were walking home there was a 4 dancers and 6 guys on the drums in the street doing the Samba!!! It was amazing they way those girls move their bodies I honestly don’t think my body is even capable of that! On Sunday we got up nice and early L and headed for the National Park. It’s was an amazing day we walked for about 7hrs all up though! We had a guided tour through the park and saw heaps of wild life - monkeys, toucans, pozote (Costa Rica animal kinda like a ant eater & a racoon), Python snake (which the guide picked up for us to look at and I touched it!!!!). The rainforest was amazing so green amazing ant nets everywhere! I need to also add that I didn’t take joggers on this trip so I did the whole
day in my thongs and it was a very slippery experience
At the pub dont mind the finger!
and I thought I would die on several occasions! We walked for a few hrs and stopped at a really cool waterfall where we had lunch and went for a swim! It was freezing but then off to one side was a natural hot spring running into one side of it, it was amazing! After lunch we walked back and then took another track that took us to see steaming rocks and boiling mud because the national park is based around a Volcano. Just incase your wondering what would happen to a banana if you threw it into a pocket of boiling mud the answer is nothing! Something the boys on my trip felt was very necessary to know! So after the park we returned to Flamingo my week just been fairly non eventful on Tuesday I actually started getting sick and by Wednesday I had was really sick with just a really bad flue I think except I felt so bad that I thought I would die so we have all decided that it MUST be Dengue Fever! Ok so maybe
it was just me who decided that but after the week I had had it just seemed logical
Sunset on penca!!!!
J!!!! I feel much better now though! The end of this week was a little bit sad as a lot of the people left this week and I miss them already!!! The upside is it will make my leaving a little easier! This weekend was spent at the beach, a trip into one of the other towns here called Santa Cruz - nothing really exciting to report from that trip! Just 2hrs on the bus each way for some Chinese food! I really wanted rechargeable batteries but they didn’t sell any! Sunday was more beach, ice cream - we have the best gelato shop just down the road its so good, a little bit of studying - it was nice. I hope this week to learn as much Spanish as I can offcourse and to go snorkelling and surfing! So hopefully I’ll have some funny surfing stories for you next week. Lots of hugs and kisses! Adios!!!
