My first dive trip to Grand Cayman took place in October of 2000. A buddy was in the process of building a rental home on the northside of the island and had asked a few of us to spend a week helping move things into the house and get it ready for the rental market. We had planned the trip months before, looking forward to doing a bit of diving between house errand. Well, if it takes 6 months or more to build a house here in the states you should at least double that time in the caribbean. At the time of the trip the building was basically cinderblock walls and under roof but nowhere near completion. Since the trip was planned and our plane tickets booked he made other arrangements for accomdations and off we went. Jim planned to do some work on the house (fire his builder and hire a new one) while Russ and Brad completed their Open Water Certification at Ocean Frontiers out on the East End of GC. That left plenty of time for me to enjoy one of the world's best diving destinations.
