For those of you who are mildly geographically challenged, Belize is a small Central American country just South of Mexico. If you (like us) enter Belize without knowing much about the place, you are in for quite a surprise. No Spanish, very few Latinos, and gas is sold in gallons. What? To picture Belize, imagine a poor town in far southern Louisiana and that is exactly what Belize is like. Creole and English are the primary languages, people are buried in crypts rather than "six feet under", and Louisiana style funeral parades are held in the streets. It is even complete with a New Orleans' red light district somewhat sleazy feel. Not our favorite place.

On the up side, a very nice family let us park next to their ocean-side restaurant and even left it unlocked at night so we would have restroom access. We have been well cared for on this trip.

We also met a transplant here from California who pontificated on the great benefits of dictatorships. Mmmmmm. He also railed against the Catholic and Christian churches. It is always surprising how little people know about Christianity who were raised in a pagan environment. Negative media propaganda was all he knew. To him, YHWH is still "the unknown God".
