We slept in late today, until about 9a. At least when I'm sleeping there is less (or no) pain from the sunburn. I had Adam apply more aloe and we hung out reading for a bit and letting the medicine do it's work. We went outside around 11a, and while it was still hot, there was a lot more breeze then there had been in the previous days. It was really nice. We walked around for a bit and then decided to rent a golf car for a couple of hours. We drove pretty far south of the main part of town, past all the nice resorts and onto unpaved roads. We had to avoid puddles and giant potholes everywhere. We saw a few lizards that were big as well as big crabs scuttling around. They were pretty funny to watch. It was so much fun driving the cart. It is something I have always wanted to do and was not disappointed! Although I think our cart was slower than some of the other ones on the road. After about 30 or 40 minutes of driving south we decided to turn around. We picked up a hitchhiker who wanted a ride
back into town. Well, he kind of just jumped into the back seat, but it was fine. He hopped off when we got back into town. We decided to then drive north, over the bridge, and the road up there had a lot more puddles. Adam tried to avoid going through one and got us stuck in the wet sand. We were sinking! Luckily a kid on a bike saw us and come over and helped him push the cart out. Emergency evaded! I had to take over driving though 😊
Not too long after that we turned around to head back into town and drop our cart off. After returning the cart at 1:30p we went back to Jam-Bel Jerk Pit for lunch. We split some jerk chicken and the key lime pie. Both were great. The chicken was spiced just right amount - a little bit of heat, but great flavor, and the key lime pie was not the same as it is at home, but very dense and really sweet. It was good. I also got another giant pina colada, which was gold and cold, but filling.
After lunch we walked back to our hotel for showers
and more goo for the burns. We eventually fell asleep and woke up an hour and a half later! It was good napping apparently. I didn't think I was so tired, but I guess that's what vacation is about.
We read for awhile and then decided we should get some dinner when it was around 7:30p.
We went to Waruguma , where we ordered some pupusas. I had heard of them, but had never actually tried one. They are corn tortillas with a variety of different fillings offered. We each got three. I got chicken, fish and lobster, Adam got fish, lobster and pork & beans. They were really good and more filling then I had expected. They were hot and fresh too - there were two women out front making them to order. It was inexpensive and a great last dinner to have in San Pedro. We both like the more local restaurants rather then the big touristy ones.
We stopped off by a store on the way back to pick up some water and got a nice cold pineapple Fanta (a new flavor for us to try!) Tomorrow we head off to Caye Caulker for the rest of
our trip. We catch the water taxi at 11:30a. I'm excited!
