It used to be that we came regularly to Nassau. It was the place the kids flew into for Christmas and spring break from school, or the place we chose to do check-in formalities with the Bahamian government. The Bank of Canada displayng the coat of arms. I translate roughly "God and my Right" The other part "Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense" I believe translates something like "shame on on those who think ill (of him?) Always amuses me to see British and Commonwealth symbols written in old French.

An inexpensive way to cross from the cruise ships to Paradise Island. We thought they were already loaded when the wheelchair folks arrived.

The conch shell is often stunningly beautiful and there are a number of other lovely giant shells in the Bahamas. You can find them for sale on the wharf in front of the Straw Market

The new bridge over Nassau Harbor joins the old city to Paradise island. the pedestrian walk is wide and protected.

A shopping village has been built around Atlantis Marina. Very clean and colorful. Rather like an advertisement for the Bahamas and not the real thing.

There seemed to be more American shops in the Marina Village than Bahamian ones.

There is a new beer in the Bahamas called Sands and we wondered if Doc was related. We decided on "Fry Fish"

We returned to Potters Cay on day 2...

This snapper may not look appetizing but it was delicious. Scored and marinated in lime it is pan fried with no batter.

Several power boats converge in the channel heading to the west exit past the cruise ships. I Wanda is tiny, top right anchored on the Paradise Island side.

Nassau harbor
THANKS so much for the pictures!!! Hungrily looked at all of them! Brought back a lot of memories. Glad Nick and Carolyn are still doing their thing. Good to also see a picture of the two of you - looking great!

Enjoyed this blog entry which I hadn't seen before. We never went to Nassau so seeing the pics were especially entertaining. Love the Kalik next to the conch salad!
