Thanks! Thanks for the interesting and amusing travel tales. I've enjoyed keeping track of your journey and have ignored your slights about Australian cricket!
You've Got To Be Kidding Pineapple Lumps - aren't you supposed to be bringing me presents - after all you went on holiday and traditionally the traveler brings back a nice memento for the abandoned, hardworking, selfless person left behind. Anyway I don't think I can bring them, either Ma, Noah or Dale would eat them before we get to the airport.
Home soon... Travel ups and downs to the end eh. I admire your patience and stoic attitude. Still, all part of the experience. The weather in NZ is somewhat better now. Only flooding in parts of the South Island ! Go the Netballers tonight against the ' daughters of sheep stealers '
Cheers
Steve
Heat and sleet Hi Ed
Sounds too hot where you guys are ! NZ is once again experiencing extreme weather and lots of roads are closed in the South Island. Tough I imagine with Zachary not sleeping that well and the parentals following suit. Lots to sort out on your holiday eh. ( Settling back into NZ should be interesting ) Been watching lots of Rugby today..nephew in the morning at Ngatea, HBHS 1st xv in the afternoon and the ABs tonight. I reckon Sonny Bill is going to hammer Giteau. Richie is going to equal Odriscolls test caps as captain as well. Steve
Heat and More Heat! I generally enjoy the heat, but too much of a good thing at the moment. I spotted on the news about the latest cold snap. Should be starting to warm up a little bit when we get back but will be a shock to the system!
Perfectly Good English Absolutely nothing wrong with that sentence. If I had said "worst" then it would indicate that the others were no good, and that this one was really bad. However, this tour was still good, it was just not as good as the others, ergo it is the least good. I have no doubt my two ex teacher bosses who read this blog are fully in agreement with me!
Great experience it is great experience about Latvia and thank you to share here. I love Latvia a small country but very interesting to see and enjoy with nature and locals. Your experience will make other peoples come to visit Latvia in the future. Thank you to share here and more knowledge for me to know Latvia.
Best all

Cold and windy in wintery Hamilton Hi Ed A very interesting blog ! So much going on around you fullahs. Just finished the holidays...Lots of good times with family and friends. Teacher only day tomorrow and then a very busy term coming up. The Warriors were rubbish against the Roosters tonight. ABs playing the Springboks next weekend. Should be a very close game.
Great to see you all enjoying yourselves despite the Irish idiots.
Cheers
Steve
Go the Warriors! Well the Warriors certainly are going to the play-offs and they have a good chance of finishing top 4. Inconsistency always an issue though.
Springboks will be hurting after blowing the game against Aus so expect them to be fired up at home. Dare I say boks by 2???
Enjoy term 3!
Cheers
Ed
Hi guys, Im glad you've had a reasonably good time in Poland. I cant wait to get there one day to see where my Nana-in-law was born and raised.(oh the FIL too).
The pierogis are on the chewy side as they are boiled first, then fried. I cant wait to hear about Auschwitz. Im not morbid, its where the Nana in law worked. Lots of family history there.
Cant wait to see you when you get back. We are sad to hear about Missy too.
Take care, love to you all, Zeetra xx
Poland Hi Zeetra and whanau. We didn't know about your Polish / Auschwitz connection so we'll definitely catch up about that when we get home.
Keep those winter woollies on (as I write this it is 36 degrees!!!)
Interesting times... Gidday Ed
You guys are sure having some interesting times. Tallinn seems to be a place sometime to go back to ' finish off ' your sightseeing. You probably know we are in the middle of another cold snap. i.e. -3 in Hamilton tonight. Even Mt Taranaki has an avalanche warning ! The All Blacks v Samoa game was boring - no great advertisement for the game. Just got back from the Naki and off to Auckland to stay with family next week.
Cheers
Steve
Cold Snap Yes it seems like we chose a good winter to be away. Having said that the summer here is struggling to get started but we are getting a few more warmer days now. Turkey then Greece coming up - both will probably be damn hot!
Do you secondary school teachers ever work by the way?
Football and all that... Hi Ed
Val and I are off to Taranaki in an hour or so, so a quick email. Thanks for your advice about what Football is. ( or isn't ) most helpful. Speaking of Rugby...I presume you know my beloved Highlanders won last night ! A fantastic result. Let's just say my winnings from last night from friends and family are stacking up. Enough of this trash talk. The scenery and wildlife sounds amazing on your travels. Amazing memories being formed already eh. I trust Heathers leg continues to improve. Keep safe.
Cheers Steve
Super 15 Sorry Steve that was not a fantastic result but a complete travesty ...(see Helsinki Blog). Hope the sun is shining in Taranaki (seems unlikely) but regardless of that you have a great week.
Cheers
Ed
They just vanished into Finnair... Hi Ed
Note to self. DON'T fly Finnair ! It seems to be pretty useless on every level - reminded me of an internal flight we made to Dehli. One week to the holidays...yippee. Val and I are off to Taranaki and Auckland. I presume you know that the Super 15 final is between the Hurricanes and the Highlanders. You might be on the other side of the world, but I'm sure you are up for a bottle of Coke on the outcome. Highlanders by 10.
The cold snap in NZ appears to be mostly over.
Cheers
Steve
On 22 April we flew out of Auckland for Dubai and London to start our 4 month adventure through Europe and a bit of the Middle East.
A lot of planning has gone into this. Read the blog entries to see if it all paid off! ... full info
