We left Rome, hungover yet rested, on Friday morning; after having said our goodbyes to Giovanna we jumped on a train to Florence. Traveling in Italy by train is about the most stress-free way of getting around I have ever experienced. There are pretty much trains between major cities on the hour. You have the option of express - on the Eurostar, for example, for about 60 to 80 Euro - or the regionale, for much cheaper. Around 9 to 15 Euro. Awesome. All you do is show up, use the touch screen on the automatic ticket machine with your credit card, and get on the train. No security lines, $400 tickets, frequent flyer miles.
