EXHILERATING
Wonderful to read your adventures in Lijiang & environs...Tiger Leaping Gorge...Baisha...Baishutai...stunning pics of one of my favourite environs...yet you do not mention the legendry Dr Ho at Baisha. I've stayed in Lijiang twice. The difference due to progress in the old town between visits was staggering...the Jade Corridor of restaurants was not there on my first trip, but was built to look as if they had been there for yonks...and the walls around the town on my first visit were gone by my second...the price of progress. Do you know if the damming of Tiger Leaping Gorge is still proceeding???

Hey,
Nice trip. Weird but seems you are doing what I did a month ago, except on two wheels and not four. Tough roads from Jyuzhaigou to Luguhu right?

Tough roads especially for cyclists
Yeah it would have been very difficult on a bicycle and I take my hat off to you guys. Interesting scenery though.I don't think I have seen too much flat land in China yet. Unfortunately I took the overnight train from Chengdu to Xichang so I didn't get to see the countryside between those cities.

Beautiful scenery
Wow what a beautiful place - awesome photos. How does Yak Bolognese taste?
16th May 2012

Hi Cindy
The place was fantastic. The yak bolognese was very good. It has a strong beef flavour. I enjoyed the burger more though and the banana yak yogurt shake was also good.

Love this :)
I agree with Michelle, I want to jump in and cuddle them. So nice to see a blog of china with a focus on something a little out of the ordinary. Definitely add this to my list!

Happy pandas

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm in love with this photo. Makes a person want to jump into the pile, though it probably wouldn't feel as soft and fluffy as it looks. :)

an interesting blog, wonderful photos of the traditonal costumes, and it sounds like you are meeting some lovely local people which is one of the best things when travelling.
2nd May 2012

I love how you interact with the local people...
and how interested in you they are...and generous too. You are lucky you have only experienced diarrhoea once in your three years of traveling. Better keep that supply of Immodium on hand.
2nd May 2012

Hi Bob
I've been very lucky interacting with locals in my travels. I guess I put myself in a position where they feel comfortable to talk with me and I reap all the rewards. Also the locals get a kick out of talking to, or playing basketball with a foreigner. Everyone's happy.

Join the trip.
Hello Jason, Nice to read about your trip. It puts us, after we are half a week back, again in the middle off China. We liked to travel a bit together. Have good luck en we hope you to remember us when you are back in Melbourne. Regards Jong and Cor
