Laos
Your trip to Laos has been too short to satisfy ME! I have been reliving my experience through your photos and writing. I spent a week in LPB a year ago, and I think a month would have been better. I spent two of those days in a Hmong village with a friend and his shaman father. Your other posts show me places I know I'll never get to, and I wish you were able to write more - such as about the local and national politics of the various islands that you get to and how they affect your visits. Thanks for your stories! Allan

So close to China
You were so close to China in northern Laos. Were you tempted to travel there? Would it have been easy to do so?

Thanks Dave
I guess I was very lucky. It was one of the most fantastic sights I have ever seen. I always wondered if it was the same every day. Sorry to hear you didn't have the same conditions. Jason

Hi Herbert
I cant exactly remember the names of each guesthouse but I think in Kuta Lombok it was called "Kuta Baru" and it was in town just before the turnoff towards the beach. In Senggigi I stayed down the side street where the 2 mosques are located. The guesthouse is on the left and the name I believe starts with a "Z". Hope this helps. Jason

Hi Hazril, I think a lot of us westerners work and save hard for a couple of years, then resign from our jobs and travel to regions where it is not too expensive. This allows us to travel for a decent amount of time. Most of us stay in guesthouses, eat at local food stands, and we catch local transport.

Hello
Hi Jason..Hope you enjoy your holidays. .Just to ask one question and very looking forward for the answer. I have followed this travelblog for almost a year. What I have found that most of the tourists/backpackers especially the westerners spent a long time for travel/vacation even a couple of months go around the world..are they employed?:) ..How do they arrange their time and financial? What are the systems do they practice? Please share..TQ!

Guesthouse
In Inle I stayed at Remember Inn for $10 a night with own bathroom and hot water, highly recommended. My big bag was sent there direct when I went on the trek from Kalaw through the Golden Lilly GH. In Kalaw I heard Eastern Paradise is good if you are on a budget. I stayed at a really good hotel for $13 a night, I think it was just off main rd on same street as Eastern Paradise
