Proof Reading I apologize for the errors. I revised this several times over the past month and finally decided to just post it while enjoying the wonderful weather here in Key West.
Hope? You are going to visit sometime, we will have a big party with lots of cheap American beer and Jack Daniels. Depending on if it is just you or who else, we get the vodka and everything else ready for your visit. Not hope, but when you visit!
Your house is really wonderful. Thanks for the pictures!
I sincerely hope that I'll an opportunity to visit you sometimes. :)
Moreover, most of Obninsk friends are informed by me and Freddie about your arrival and we're keeping on informing everyone though you sent emails :)
Yay! Glad to hear you are coming back to the States, strategically located between your Georgia friends and your parents. Sorry I missed seeing you on your last trip to WF, but am glad you are safe and happy. Candy company, huh? Have I ever told you that you are my best friend? Welcome back.
wonderful news Although I'm sure everyone in Russia that you've met and everyone who reads your blog will miss you, those of us here in the States that have known you will be glad to have you back in our lives, even if it's an occasional drink here and there. You are a great person and I enjoy being able to call you my friend. We're a bit closer now in SC so hopefully we'll be able to get together on one of our trips home to Georgia also. Take care and hope to see you soon. I will miss the wonderful adventures you've taken us all on though but it's been a great time reading about them and living them through your words and photos. Thank you for being the traveling frog for all of us!!!
I have been reading your blog from the beginning and have really enjoyed it. I will miss you but know you are going home so you will be happy. Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year and a new adventure.
Welcome Home While I'm sad for you to be leaving your Russian friends, as one of your American friends I can say...Welcome Home! Your blog has been so interesting and informative regarding real life living in Russia. I've enjoyed it very much and will miss it when you are home. Thank you for doing this blog and for keeping it up all this time. Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!
Should Be a Breeze Having been in snack/candy quality in Chattanooga for 32 years, I can tell you that you won't have any problems whatsoever. Candy will be a breeze compared to chicken!!
Merry Christmas and a big thank you! Hi Vince,
Now I'm again part of your blog, also we know only so a short time. Wow!
By this way I want to thank you again! If you wouldn't have written your blog, I never had seen the real Russian way of life. Sure - your not the perfect Russian ;-) but to meet you and your great Russian friends was an experience, I never want to miss! I also want to thank all your friends which were so approachable. When I was told to go to Russia, I had a lot of prejudices. After I meet them, I got a complete different side of view. Thanks to all of you and a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
And for you Vince - I wish you a lot of success for your "new" life in the States.
The earth is round. So I see you around.
Marc
SMS Message from Around the World This morning Marc sent me an SMS to my phone that I thought I would share since it related to the blog and its posting, "Good morning Vince. I read your new blog yesterday night. Really nice to be now part of your huge blog. Have a nice week-start. Marc"
Thanks for the recognition Thanks for the mention in your blog. It is definitely a great service to all of us who want to keep track of you. It's been a pleasure and I've lived vicariously through your blog, sort of snooping into your life. What a hoot! I was a pleasure to host Egor and his friends this summer as sort of "exchange" students. I know I helped them tremendously and it feels good. I wish they had been here when my recent robbery occurred. Egor would have saved me a lot of grief.
Can Not Tell You In the States, I am not exact, but I think Atlanta, Las Vegas, Orlando, Seattle, Columbus OH, San Diego/LA area, and Birmingham. I think that is all, but I am not exactly sure and may be missing one or two. Outside of the US, Tokyo, Toronto (twice), Montreal, Quebec City, Amsterdam, and London (twice). I plan to go to Hong Kong to see another one that is off one of the islands in China, but it will be later next year.
Fabulous! I am so happy for you getting to visit Tokyo! That is great! And the picture of the sunset near the Rainbow Bridge is a terrific picture. Thanks for letting us live vicariously through you.
Picture 3 - Ironworks The monument is called "Kolme seppää" (=Three smiths) or "Kolmen sepän patsas" (=The statue of the three smiths)

Egor Glad to see that Gang(ster) Egor made it home and is back to his partying. I enjoyed his humor for the past couple of months. Why isn't he back at the university? Get back to school Egor!
having fun Looks like you're still having loads of fun there! Glad to hear it compared to the way things are here. Still looking for a job and the economy seems to be getting worse by the day but something will come along. Take care and write when you can.
Not Worth the Hip I am glad to have gone, but to be honest, do not go out of your way to go. It was fun and interesting, but you really do not want to stay there long and it would have been more fun with people you know, more as a group so if you get the chance, sure go, but do not make a special trip to go someplace just to go to an ice bar. At least that is my recommendation.
Ice Hotel Bar I'm glad you got to go to the Ice Bar. A friend of mine and work and I were actually looking at what it would cost to go there so it's neat that you visited the site. Jealous is an understatement.
I changed my portrait from my lastest picture from Tokyo where I saw ZED by Cirque du Soleil and even go to meet ZED.
Summer has pasted and now it is winter here in cold dark (short days with little sunshine) Russia. For those that did not hear, I signed on for another year so I will be living here in Obninsk until January 2009.
It is finally summer here in Russian so thought I would change the picture. Enjoy the stories, adventures, blunders, etc. as I live and work in Russia.
I do not want to loose any of my emails and stories, so I am just going to add to this existing one. ... full info
