I had not been back in Antananarivo, Madagascar since 1985. I came back to meet with local partners to prepare a proposal for the International Finance Corporation (World Bank). It was great meeting again engineers from JIRAMA, the national utility, with whom I had worked 20 years ago on a feasibility study for a hydropower project. Since then, they have moved up to various responsibilities within JIRAMA or with other government agencies. As usual not much free time but I did go to the zoological garden on Saturday afternoon where you can see a variety of birds, a few lemurs, an ostrich, ....
