Getting High! Were you and your travelling companions the only wild life to be seen in this place? What did you get high on?!! A Bolivian Red!! Didn`t they tell you that Laguna Colorado was a wine lake! Once again, lovely pics. Enjoy your trip by train to Oruro, perhaps it will be more comfortable than the jeep. Love Mumx
Hemmies Unfortunately the salt flats were only the last day / the first 2 days were a very bumpy ride, it was a good job we were in a half decent jeep.
It was just luck of the draw getting the girls ... honest!!!
Not Too Bumpy Then! Looking at that barren featureless vista you have just traversed suggests that the hemmies got away with a murdering then. I thought you would have been in steaming jungle, not in ice fields and salt flats. Whoooee! How come you get to travel in the off-roader with all the girls then? Nice sun tan!!! (8-O)
Mooning Despite your claimed failure with the camera, you have managed to get a couple of pretty decent shots in there Trev. Well done! Now watch out for the hemmies when you do the 3 day jeep trip into Bolivia! Make you squeal in that steamed up tropical mountain jungle -- ooooooaah! ;-))
Doing a Cool "Moonie" Great pics Trev, realy Cool. Put them both side by side and it could be you doing a "Moonie"!. Do you think these Hostels have advanced warning of your arrival? Keep taking the wine!. Enjoy your long trip to San Pedro Alacama. Love Mum x
Vino del Valps I told you the wine was good, so good it helps overcome Sunday routine in La Serena. Had the horse left town too? Moon looks much the same as from here - white and grey and all blurred. You didn't miss too much with the Penguins Colony, nowt but noise, Penguin projectile poo and smell of fish! Enjoy St Pete of Atacama.
Heaven or Hell? Hope your leg has been ok going up and down all those steps Trev. Interesting photo of the ship restaurant, did you have a meal there and get sea sick? Perhaps that`s why the duvet cover was fluorescent green!!. After your 7 hour bus ride to La Serena (Ale`s near). Or will you be ready for a bottle or two of a good Chile Red?! Enjoy, Love Mumx
Ah Valps! Valparaiso - what a run ashore! I had a great time there coming back from Falklands in 1987. Great food and wine. Wine very good quality and exceptionally low cost!!! Know what you mean about the buses - some things don't change! But nonetheless, refreshing - especially after Santiago. Keep it coming Trev.
Santiago to Valparaiso Trev, I expect you have danced your way up from SANTIAGO (as I tango) to clean up in VALPARAISO (soap arival) naff I know, but best I could do. Yes I know arrival has two r`s. Love Mum x
wow how wonderfull to have a blessing , and to see the beautifull buddhist temple, i envey you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!enjoy and keep posting pics.
jane chris and sara
What type of dog I wonder?..... Well sounds like you made it with your camera, good work Trevor! I'm just wondering what type of heinz 57 you're getting in those hotdogs, or is it chilli's finest like labrador, german shepherd, collie, too funny!? Still next stop hot guinea pigs, yum!!! Take care x
Chilli Don't mention the Malvinas. Chile are good pals, but there are Argies next door! Santiago is a great run ashore, so long as you don't tread on the hot dogs. Pity so much fog, else you'd have seen some seriosuly Himalayan matching scenery!
Chilean Cab Sauvignon very good quality and when I was last there (1987) we were paying 91p a bottle for some really good stuff. Casino Macul is worth a bracer!
Don't break yersel this time Trev!!!
A "dogged" Journey Is Manwell after "dogged" journey from Frankfurt(er) to "Chile" Hotdog? - "mustard" been hell. "Chor-i-zo" for now or adi`os Love Mum.
Last of the Big Spenders! I just knew it, You had to haggle for my present didn`t you. Did you get it for 60p in the end?. Didn`t they at least have a £1 shop? Love Mum
On Top Of The World For you Trev, the 17th May 2008 will always be a memorable day. Your Dad went to the North Pole as his great memory and yours will be Flying over Mount Everest on the day Pompey won the FA Cup. Fantastic. Love Mum
Limping back to Blighty! Lovely to see photoes of you with the children from the Ganganagar Orphanage, what a shame that you were unable to complete your stay. Lets hope a short break back home will put you right and you will soon be able to complete your adventures. Love Mum
Everest next port of call then Trev Sounds like you having an adventure. We could do with a few of those hamsters over here at the moment. 200 people on a bus designed for 50, sounds like going to paultons park
The "cosy" bus rides you are experiencing must be playing havoc with the old hemmies! And then all that walking. And only water to drink .... But I checked that web site on Ganganagar Trev and it says you all congregate at weekends to have a drink and eat western fodder. Can't be that bad then. How is the local brew - or are you not that brave????? Keep up the good work.
Hamsters Wait till you get to Peru You will be eating Hamsters there, a very fine starter to a meal so I`ve heard! (Yum, Yum!).
Keep going, the wild life can only get better. Now lets see, that`s 1 Wild Chicken, an Elephant, a Rhino and some Hamsters "Hmm" very interesting. How about a Bengal Tiger, very rare I`m told. Good Luck. Keep drinking plenty (Water) Love Mum X
Mounts Washing & Ironing! You might be having fun going up mountains on a bus Trev but not as much fun as I`m having climbing the mountain of washing you left behind, I havn`t reached the peak yet. that comes when I`ve climbed mount ironing basket. Have fun, stay safe Love Mum
Testing Comms How can you complain about the bus driver - were you never a passenger in your Dad's car??????
Yes, if you have FOGOTTEN your first 50 words of Nepali (or whatever it is they utter in them parts) already, there's not much hope for you out in the sticks. Your Mum always said she had difficulty communicating with you - must have been the grunts emanating from under your duvet at wakey-wakey time! I always found communications easier after about 10 pints of the local brew - a great leveller, 'cos everybody speaks gibberish from thereon.
Keep it comin' ......
Culture? Come on Trev, the only culture you know is the one that grows like yeast in yer socks. Could the local culture out there really tolerate you at your best? And what did the elephant do to deserve you behind it's lugs eh?
Good to see you enjoying life, but I'm really waiting to see what the "cultural" diet experience in that part of the world is gonna do to your "waste" line.
Keep 'em a comin'!
Trev and Technology Trevor and technology - never was your strong point was it sunshine!. Surprised there's still a market for celluloid dependent cameras, even that close to India, but a mobile in th sub continent was always going to be a challenge. Where the hell do you think your helpline was going to be ???
