Cool
You are certainly in your element here. But the snake wine, I hate snakes (me and Indy).

Simply Amazing!
I'm amazed at how great these statues look and how well preserved they are. I, too, love historical sites like these so I'm so jealous of you both!
4th November 2008

Wow
That is just absolutely amazing. I'm so jealous!

Once in a lifetime
This is my first time to weigh in as I have been bogged down in work. What a pleasure to come upon all of these incredible blogs after a demanding time. This one takes the cake. We must share something, Melly, because the terracota warriors would be at the top of my list if I went to China. What kinds of snake was that -- presumably not poisonous. You and Earnest stay safe and keep the commentary rolling.

While you're over there
Ernest: take some pictures of some buses while your're there. I havent seen one yet. Indulge him, Melinda, please!!!

How exciting...wish I was there. Pictures are great...tell Ernest to let you take a picture of him. Would love to see how much he is enjoying the trip.

IPOD
Hey! If Earnest can get an IPOD for that, tell him I will gladly pay him back also! Talk about a deal! Looks like you are having a blast with all that ancient stuff...right down your alley!

Dawgs & Hoos
Yes, the Hoos also sucked miserably. Had the game won against Miami until the last two minutes of regulation, and fumble in OT. Kicker missed two gimmed field goals in regulation. Food was good at the tailgate, though. No dog or scorpia, but good nonetheless. Tub-o-Jitos were good, too, and welcome after the result. Glad to hear you all are safe and having such a good time!

Beautiful!
It's so beautiful there but I must say that Melinda is wonderful model! You both look very happy!!

You can do it girl!
Wow, that looks so tasty!! Ernest, don't be a chicken shit and try one! Hey, it may taste like chicken! Whatever you do, DONT eat any dog meat! The thought that people can eat those lovely creatures is beyond me but there are a lot of mouths to feed there! Anyway, we look forward to seeing you both soon! Glad Halloween is over! It was SO EXHAUSTING! Take care and be safe!

Scorpion & Cutest Dog
OMG! Melinda - you ate the scorpion!! Now you can join those reality shows that win BIG MONEY for eating all sorts of disgusting creatures. Ernest would love that!! Ernest - if you decide to bring that cute dog home, please bring his/her cousin, I'M IN LOVE WITH THE DOG TOO! :-)
2nd November 2008

ewwwwww! fried scorpion!
ewwwwwww! how COULD you?

Bugs!!!
I never doubted that you would eat a bug of some sort. The market pic looks like it did on TV. I am very disappointed that Ernest didn't try any bugs. Lucy is glad you didn't try the dog stew. And I think that's a cute little dog, too. And by the way, if Ernest feel the need to bargain to get me an Ipod for $15, I'll be glad to pay him back when you get back home. And one last thing, Jason wants to be added to your travel blog if you could. He was enjoying hearing us tell about your adventures and would like to read about them first hand. His email is oceans_away@ (same carrier as me).

One more thing...
I love the picture of the view from your hotel window. The colors are amazing. And, I also especially like the one with you kissing the statue---way to go, Ernest! Okay, back to behavioral testing on my rats... hehe. Love, Emma

Luck!
Looks as though this trip will impart to you tons of good luck! I guess it couldn't have come at a better time! I might even have to steal a little bit of your luck next time I see you ;-).

Jealous!
... But I'm also so happy for you! Dreams and goals for my life are always swirling in my head, and I ought to write them down. But as I read this, I think that perhaps my travel goals can simply be to follow exactly in your footsteps! I'm pretty sure I won't be able to realize any of those dreams in the next five years, with grad school being so busy... but hopefully after that the adventures will start! On the other hand, maybe then we should have new adventures together :). Hope your health continues to be good. Take risks so you will have awesome stories to tell! Love you!

From your fellow mourner
I'm glad today went better than yesterday (or whatever days it is for you, you know what I mean). Cool pictures of the wall, sorry you didn't get to climb around on old rocks I know how much you love it. Yes, it is a sad sad day for the Bulldawg Nation. But we will come back. Have fun and stay well please.

Sounds awesome! I just have one request....I can deal with jellyfish, but try to steer clear of dog. Love you!

Happy Halloween!
I guess you're not celebrating Halloween, huh? It's got to be a good trip when that long on the plane is smooth. Y'all have fun and know that work misses Ernest.

the Duck!
Well, At least Ernest got his duck!! Quack! No more migraines allowed -- you are NOT to do that again -- E, stop letting her get so excited over all this OLD STUFF!!

So excited for you!! I know this will be SO much fun -- no eating rats, ok? I have shared your blog with Shelby's world geography class. We are going to vicariously take the trip with you!! Have fun -- be safe, and don't eat anything I wouldn't =D
