Well, after being on buses three out of four nights in a row, i finally arrived in huacachina, peru. Im not really sure if i should call this a city, a town, or a street, but huacachina is basically a one road oasis five minutes from the town of Ica in southwestern peru. After arriving from Arequipa at about 6am, and literally getting dropped off on the side of a freeway, we took the first taxi we found to the hostel. Unfortunately, after pulling up to our first hostel choice, casa de arena, and knocking on the front door, it appeared that the hostel was full (though the next day we walked by it, and there seemed to be quite a few of empty rooms). But, it wasnt really a problem. the more or less ¨street¨of ... read more

Well im about five cities ahead of this blog, but nonetheless, I describe my journey through La Paz and Salar de Uyuni. Yet again, an amazing city. i am happy that since lima, i have yet to go through a city i havent liked. all in all, i spent about 5 days in la paz, and i only wish i could have spent longer. Once again, me and the group im travelling with stayed in Loki (a series of 3 hostels in peru and la paz). we figured out that if you stay in all three (la paz, cusco, and mancora), you get a free t-shirt, so made a group decision we would stay in all three haha. one of the coolest things about this city is its layout. the entire city is completely surrouneded by ... read more

Let me preface this entry by saying, holy shit.... this place is one of the most amazing places I have ever visited. Isla del Sol is the Inca creation site, and the birthplace of the sun in Inca mythology. For those who do not know where this is really, it lies on Lago de Titicaca, one of the highest navigable lakes in the world. To get here, we took a boat from Copacabana and docked at Yumani. Now, if you are thinking of going here, there are a few things you should know. First, there really is not that much to do here. Yumani is the largest village of three that are on Isla del Sol. However, the largest village still doesnt have that much to do. The first thing that i was amazed to find ... read more

Well, after a 21 hour miserable bus ride from lima to cusco, i arrived at Loki. this place is infinitely better than Lima and definitely gets two thumbs up. Cobblestone streets, friendly natives, a graet night life, and impecable weather. My first night here, i enoyed a few drinks at the bar in the hostel, where you can get a 650 mL Brahma for 6 soles, or 2 for 1 spirits for 8 soles (3 soles = 1 US dollar). Let me just say that Aussies, Brits, and Irish can all out drink me. Nevertheless, I finally started to enjoy my vacation. After recovering the next day and walking around Cusco, i realized there wasnt a whole lot to do here, but that wasnt necessarily a bad thing. I spent most of the day lounging around ... read more

so i finally have a hostel with internet access so i thought id put up my first entry for my trip. Lima I would like to preface this entry with a strong recommendation to never go to lima, unless you absolutely have to. its fine for a day, or maximum two days, but not much more than that. The first part of my trip definitely had a rocky start. I stayed in the district Miraflores, which is more or less the safest neighborhood in lima, and also the place where the majority of backpackers stay. Of the places that lima has to offer, miraflores is probably the better one. Central lima is pretty rundown/ghetto and la victoria is just a clustfuck of people. but anyway, back to my journey... I stayed at the Hostel ¨flying dog ... read more
