I made it out of China, however listen to the route......From Chengdu, China, I got on a flight and left to head to Lhasa (as a stopover, not a final destination) and as we descended into the airport we had to pull up. The weather was too bad to land, so we returned the 1hr 40 min back to Chengdu. Upon arrival we went to a airplane parking lot and waited on the plane, which we spent the next 4 hours in the cabin of the plane. The fed us and played some cheesy movie in Chinese. Thanks! So we finally get clearance to take off and had no problems arriving in Lhasa this time. Vinny & Dog's Epic Trek Part 2: Xian and the (almost) route to Lhasa Well After leaving Beijing and settling into a nice little Hostel of sorts in Xian, (not the kind from the movie Hostel either!) I was ready to see the biggest Army of clay unearthed to date. The first day I walked around Xian to see some of the sights. I went through this place known as the Muslim Quarter and up the hutongs, or alleyways, which seem to intertwine the city and offer a endless possibilities. You can find all sorts of stuff throughout the alleys to include toys, silk covered books, silk clothing, cigarettes, food, drinks, and all the tourist knick knack that you find walking through any city with tourism. Vinny & Dog's Epic Trek Part 1: Beijing and the Chinese Culture Shock Well I finally began my oddessy! All the hype and it is now upon me!! I started in Bejing....and here I am! When I got here I really wasn't expecting much, just fly by the seat of my pants......and it has made for some interesting meals, some memorable experiences and just a total understanding of, for the first time in my life, culture shock. I guess part of the reason is I am alone and have yet to really meet anyone. I think it can be fun to order something from a restaurant where they speak no English and I speak no Chinese.
