Aw what a fast couple of weeks! Work has been filled with stolen/lost passports - I am able to create them on my own now! That is exciting. I attended a meeting the other week with the heads of all the departments (Dept. of Homeland Security, Dept. of Economics, etc.), including Ambassador Thorne, which was amazing! It is incredible to watch the interworkings of the government unfold. I attended a jazz concert by the Bill Fresill Trio, who is actually from the US, with my friend Stefano last week. Interesting music with a cute, animated, trance-like slideshow. Just got back from Pisa and Siena this weekend. Serene, stunning - words cannt describe. The pictures do not do these cities justice but we tried. Whoever thinks the only thing in Pisa is the tower is crazy. It ... read more

The people, the structures, the food, the Embassy, the shops, even the public transportation is enjoyable. A blessed trip it has been so far. Here are some of the latest pictures of friends and sights. This week I sat in on a meeting of a Transatlantic group of about 20 young persons of all different trades, European countries and backgrounds who, each in their own way, contribute to the growing relations of Europe and the United States. Very interesting - amongst the group included an independent documentary filmmaker, an architect who owns his own firm, an engineer and many more. Outstanding individuals. I also helped create a passport! That was exciting and a great sense of accomplishment. More to come!... read more

A Roma! After a couple days of jetlag - I ventured out into the city a bit. We were blessed with decent weather, until last night - and the rain continues into today. Walking around the Colosseum and the Fountain of Triton, amongst many others, makes me gawk in awe of the ability of these structures to withstand the test of time. To think what they represent from ancient times. I walked to the Embassy from my hotel yesterday and make it there in around 35 minutes. Although my apartment is farther south, I trust that I should be able to walk to work inan hour or so. If the rain lets up today, hopefully I can test that theory as well as meet my roommate. Although exploring the city by myself has been nice, I ... read more

Italian Riviera - visiting Genoa, hiking Cinque Terre (one of the only groups to hike all five towns), laying on the beach in Santa Margherita, taking aimless boat ferries only to stay at the towns for 20 minutes, visiting Portofino and someday hoping to join the Italian Yacht Club there, eating the best meals of my life, and lastly, saying our final farewells to Session One. ... read more

Hey all! The past couple weeks have been crazy! I've traveled around Europe a little bit. This past weekend I went to Belgium on Saturday... ate the most fabulous waffles and chocolate of my life. Walked around the gorgeous town, full of people and open markets. Then we ventured to Amsterdam on Sunday, the 22nd, and visited the Anne Frank museum which was a must. On Monday we went to the Van Gogh Museum and walked around the city. It is full of canals... more than Venice, who would've known. We had amazing weather and a long, long, long journey. Tuesday we left Amsterdam at 13:00 and arrived back in Torino at 1:00... good fun! We went through 7 modes of transport... but had a fabulous time! Pictures to come... Casey... read more
