Pass that woman a s'more! You are a real trooper, Suzanne...doing under-the-bus unloading duty, keeping track of the runaways, and going without s'mores. Great pictures from the Girl Scout trip! Love the fruit shopper story...yay Emily. I laughed out loud when I saw the picture of Emily reading Photochemistry and Photobiological...too funny!! Enjoy your last month in Shanghai. People magazine awaits.
I really loved your post and photos! I remember those photo booths in the subway, from when I was in Korea! My blog is looking for travel photos, stories, reviews (like any interesting foods, or your experience at the World Expo! ;) , etc, to share. If you have the time, check it out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com, or email us at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com. Enjoy your last bit of time there!
Heather :)
Loogie? Great blog! Weather looks good there. Thanks for all the pictures...and captions. Love "Great views while lost". The photo of you getting help is just how I imagined it. What's a "loogie hocking"? Chicago term?
Surgery... Well, if they removed your thing the same way they removed Ben's birthmark when he was 3, I can tell you exactly what happened. It was kind of gross and definitely bloody. But then they pulled good skin over the hole, stitched it up and he just has a bit of a scar. Hope you get good results from your test!
i heart yangshuo Reading your blog so made me want to go back to China and revisit all the wonderful experiences we had there. I wrote about Yangshuo when we were there a while back, I think in the end of September last year...we were almost trampled by water buffalos while sunning ourselves on the river bank!!!
DuckXing Wow! what a great experience for you all. love the name "Outside Inn"someone was having a bit too much ginger tea when they thought that one up. Memories for a lifetime. Thanks for sharing!
Best read yet Your immediate NEV nabes found this one to be the most interesting of all. Hope you have lined up an agent for your book!

Evening Wedding in Shanghai Yes! It is so interesting to see the similarites and differences from a Western angle. You all look so stunning in your Sunday best!
The bride wore white...gold...red... Wow...how fascinating. Much happiness to Jiyi and Melody. It's impressive that Mark delivered the toast in Chinese. Thanks for this fabulous account.

SO EXCITED! Hi Suze!
We are indeed in Java right now (Yogyakarta), but are headed for Ubud tonight! After reading your post, I am getting so excited. We haven't been on a beach in ages, and are positively chomping at the bit. I wish we were going to be there at the same time, but instead we'll just have to go with your wonderful rocommendations!
Bali The critters that you talk about remind me of when we lived in Florida. We had pet names for them! I'll never forget when I opend the back door and there was this loooong "black hose" coiled up. I thought, why did hubby leave it so close to the door? Yikes! I was shaking for hours and called the fire dept.. silly me they told me it was a garden snake just looking for water..nuf said!
New Years from Shanghai Go Tigers! Toasted bread ala mode reminds me of French toast? The pic of the skyline in the snow..Central Park? Hot pink Tupperware hmmm. Love the fish sticks..You are such a nut Lol!
I am an American woman with a husband and 2 kids, about to relocate with my family to Shanghai.
The back story: We are moving because my husband is going to be working in Shanghai.
July 6, 2008: We are a bit less than a month away from the move and current postings chronicle the prep to get there, the logistics to be allowed to go there, and the coordination of all these things we have to do before we can go! Oh, and Mark is in China for about a month (the last month we are in the states and getting ready)...so I'm very busy.
July 28, 2008....2 days til the big move.
August 4, 200... full info
