Hi, I stayed overnight in the Junk as it is 3 and half hours journey each way. It will be a very long day if you return on the same day and it is not worth it for few hours only. The over night stay at the junk is really nice and I loved wa king up in the morning at Ha long bay. It is beautiful.Enjoy planning.
Great blog. My husband and I ventured to Vietnam in April and we loved it. We only went to HCMC and Hoi An as we had time restrictions. Now looking for next year and thinking of going north - will definitely visit Halong Bay. Your price was good, some on websites are over $300. Was the junk clean and food good?? You sounded happy with the food.

Hi , I went with mid range Houng Hai Junk. Please look at the next entry on my blog and you can read all the details about my trip with Houng hai junk and the itinerary. Please do not go with any cheap junks as there has been recent sinking of Junk on Ha Long bay. Either go with reputable mid range junk or nice junk. Best wishes and happy planning :)
Hi, Kuala Lumpur was buzzing at midnight where as there is not that great night life in Siem reap though you can go to see the Apsara Dance. To be honest I did not venture alone at night in Siem reap and I stayed at the hotel for early nigh t. I did go out in evening in Phnom Penh but it was on a Tuk Tuk. I had hired the Tuk Tuk for the evening as I was bit vary to travel alone in Phnom penh in dark. I hope it helps :Best wishes
Hi, Thank you very much :) I am pleased that my blogs are helpful.Yes I did plan it 2 months in advance and please definitely go to Chang Mai and Phukat. I wish i had time to do Chang mai but I will do it next time. You do not need to go wi th a tour company to Thailand as it is easy to plan your holiday to Thailand. You can do it independently and you can tailor make your holiday according to your own pace where as you are stuck with set regime with a tour. Also look at travel fish website for more ideas.If you have a small group you can hire a recommended guide for the day in Bangkok as guide charges are very reasonable. Please be vary of scams in SE Asia.Good luck

Hi, I found your blog is very interesting and helpful!! Do you know much it cost to do the kayak for 2 person?Plus, we have to pay extra for the bus to pick us up from Ha Noi to Ha Long Bay? I thought the price was included the transportati on!! Thanks :)
The transportation was included in the price when I booked it with my hotel. Do negotiate the price for a better deal. I do not know about Kayaking pricing. I hope you have great time.
