Day One: Open water diving - it was in our pink book of things we have to do. Well since we are both over 40 the medical was severe but we passed!!! - so we winded down the coast in Peter's new blue ute ready to learn to dive. Huskinson at Jervis Bay is a beautiful village perched on the edge of where the river meets the sea. We stayed in a holiday house with our dear friends who were enjoying the local attractions. Our instructor was a serious young man from the UK who was very knowledgable and patient. We shared the class with Lisa, a keen RAAF person who was fun and committed to learning to dive. We were supposed to have completed volumes of study (well we did watch the video!!) so we ... read more

Speed & Water!! Day 5: The day was perfect - crisp and cold with fresh snow on the Remarkables. We rug up and join a happy noisy netball team from Canberrra for a jetboat ride in the upper Shooter Valley. The netball team screams the whole way. The jet boats are the latest - low profile and very fast - we sit in the front zooming over the crystal clear waters and gravel - Peter is very happy. We fly past the location from Lord of ... read more

Arrival - Day 1&2: S&P arrive in NZ at Christchurch. Peter assures Sandra it's only a two hour drive to Te Anau in a hire car booked on an obscure website based in the Netherlands. Two hours later in an empty terminal and a number of telephone calls later (one to the Netherlands) we have a very little silver (cute) car! (it was a bargain). Two days later we arrived in Te Anau (after an overnighter in a wonderful coastal pub at Temaru with a wine list as long as your arm...and a fireplace to boot). It is (allegedly) spring so we are starting to wonder why the snow is so heavy and the clouds so dark..…. We arrive (after breathtaking scenery) in Queenstown to discover the road to Milford Track is snowed under with high ... read more
