May 8 -17, 2008 Alpine Club of Canada - Clemenceau to Columbia Glacier Traverse Prep: Reading and re-reading the equipment list - trying to fathom what ski crampons could possibly look like… and the myriad of other items listed. My husband Marlo’s, Christmas gift was looking like a one-way trip to oblivion. I’ve always wanted to do the classic hut to hut Wapta Icefields traverse and swore I’d better do it now that I am fifty as time was running out on my physical potential. My husband holds me in high regard, too high maybe? He had done the Wapta traverse last summer and deemed it ‘too easy’, so booked the: “seven night winter camping, carry all your gear, previous glacier experience necessary, know your prussic knot from a granny knot, have used ski crampons….” trip
