Emei Shan Temple Beautiful Temple, truly spectacular. Magic part of the World. Is there snow at the top of Emei Shan at this time of year? The temple up there is also sensational. Really blew me away how you were treated as a potential Covid threat in Sichuan as you are not Chinese. Having travelled in 16 provinces in China where friendliness of locals was a feature, I am blown away by your treatment.
War Crime??? The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not "War Crimes" they were acts of war. There were thousands and thousands of war crimes committed during the war but the number committed by the Japanese Dwarf the few committed by the Allies.. The Japanese killed as many as 30 million people . Many defenseless after capture and occupation. The rapes, beheadings, slavery, and starving to death of their captured peoples are the rule of their behavior rather than the exception. These acts are compounded today by the government of Japan by their hiding of these deeds from history that is taught in schools ...Ten more atomic bombings would have been justified in my mind.

Zhenyuan I've gotta visit Guizhou Provence. Your photos take me to those still authentic parts of China where there is melding of old and new but life continues as it has for generations past. Maybe it should be my Chinese 17th Provence...thanks for sharing.
Zigong I saw the name Zigong and had to open this blog. We visited some years ago for the dinosaurs. Discovered prisoners breaking rocks to make road gravel, the world's craziest taxi driver, the bizarrest bank visit, the quietest New Years Eve, the most elaborate rooftops, the American chiropractor who rushed up to us as the first Westerners he had seen in months and one of the premier dinosaur fossil sites on the planet. Ah Zigong. And from your pics Chinese New Year for the Year of the Pig will be a cracker.
Zigong at night Amazing photos David...exquisite palette of colours and lights. I've posted some of your pics in our 'Streetscapes' thread in the Photography Forum. Check 'em out.
Emeishan Brings back fabulous memories of one of the fabulous sacred mountains of China. Through jungle with monkeys in the lower sections then ice and snow at the summit. We reached the summit in a blizzard so the golden elephant effigy was only a blur. Bet deep down you are happy you took the cablecar. If you hadn't I wonder if you would have made it to the summit at all !!!
Hey Dave. I tell ya there was no way I was climbing another 8km. It would take 3 days to get to the summit. yet the tickets were only valid for 2 days. There is all face recognition stuff when buying and using tickets.
reply to blogs read all your blogs. You look to be having an amazing time. Going to Michael's on Sat for 1 wk. Nola is very excited. I shall be Ok once we get there.
your travels Had a look at all your blogs today looked lovely. I especially liked the rainbow mountains - imagine painting those! Our adventure at Wainfleet went fine - scorching hot, but not compared to your weather. Going to Weymouth on the 6th Aug for some grandma time. Nola is getting excited, but I'm secretly dreading the car journey. All good here speak to you soon. Love you and love to Lily.
Quarrington School Memories I was there between 1956 and 1960. My father was a veterinary surgeon at the former Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries & Food offices on the (then) outskirts of Sleaford on the Grantham Road. At that time my parents lived at 83 Grantham Road. Sadly I have lost contact with all of those svhoolmates from so long ago, but I do remember those schooltimes, and often peeping through a partition doorway from which we could see the main part of the original church.
Great trip Hey, this looked liked an awesome experience. Can you provide the name of the company you booked the tour with? I'd like to try this in March. Thanks!
Peace and Quiet Can you imagine me in the thin air' I would have to sit down every minute. Very hot here in England (30) and I stay indoors most of the time.
Been living in China since 2010. I split my time between Shaoyang in Hunan Province, where I work as a teacher in a university, and Leshan in Sichuan, where my wife's family is from and where we have a small flat.... full info
