Bantayan Island, Cebu, Philippines Hello!!! I've been to Bantayan every summer since when I was a kid and believe me, I knew the beauty of it. Are all of the photos are from Marlin's beach resort? I've never been there and the sand bars look wider than those in Sugar beach. I hope you have visited the 400 year old cathedral where the walls are said to made of corals, lime sugar, egg whites and flour and boy it's still standing magnificently. authentic lechon de cebu are served in Jela's ans Peping's restaurant at a price of Php 45 to 50 per serving. Kota park in Madridejos is another tourist destination in the island with it's boarlwalk standing in the middle of the ocean by high tide. Visit Barangay Bunakan during sunset... it can compete wit what Manila Bay's sunset has to offer.
By the way, Holy week is the best time to visit the Island where feasts are held during good friday, If you're lucky you may be get 1/4 kilo of lechon de cebu for free! =)

Edgar Hegadorn I arrived with my Filipina companion July 2010 simply drawn by the mystique of Palawan. First impressions of Puerto Princesa were not amazing, but I was on a quest to find a sculpture and Pacific Rim Park by San Diego artist, James Hubbell. The locals hadn't a clue, thus we visited city hall and were swept off our feet by kind hospitality. I had worked with James, so wasn't just another tourist off the street, but the city engineer arranged a tour to the site which was some distance away yet one of the most beautiful drives through lush green countryside one could imagine. En route, we passed perhaps the most progressive prison in the world. Prisoners farm in this paradise living with their families. Now that makes genuine rehabilitation possible.
The monument at the park was built in collaboration with architecture students from the USA, Korea, China, Russia and the Philippines and will be the center piece of a future Eco-Park. Subsequently, we were treated to lunch at a magnificent waterfront restaurant and invited to a booster dinner for the mayor's reelection. Mayor Hegadorn and staff have done wonders reforming former arsenic and explosive fishermen into ecologically conscious citizens. They promote only tourism and agriculture. Illegal forestry has been halted. They have enacted a litter law that is working. I also visited the Palawan State University and was suitably awed by the beauty of their campus. Visitors can rent a hotel room on the campus as they train students in tourism and hospitality. This city has a vision and a momentum that deserves support worldwide.
The Underground River, a potential World Heritage site, is a day's drive away. The trip is several hours but through extraordinary landscapes and the River itself is lovingly maintained. The mini- port of Sabang is on my list of favorite places.
how many days? how many days did you stay at Vigan? we are going there come March, for 2 days. Will that be enough? thank you. I'm from Davao City by the way.
Are the roads good? Can one go all the way to the entrance to the falls in a good car? Say a Honda CRV? Are the roads to the place good enough not to cause damage to the vehicle?
Is the trek up and down manageable by old people? Not too steep and difficult?
Finally, I heard there is a rope (aerial) bridge one must cross on the way. Is this so, or is this bridge somewhere else nearby?
Will appreciate your kind and early response as we wre planning to go this weekend. Thank you very much.
Ricky
