wow! I really enjoyed reading this!
I will head down to those areas soon, i am currently in Quito and my 91 year old grandma told me that there was a Norwegian tattoo artist in montanita, and apparently he is from the same island as me.
So just for the hell of it, i will travel down there to look for myself and extend my tattoo;)
David, I am so glad you are experiencing so much yet keeping in tune with local lifestyles. My goodness, you are such a kind and adventurous guy, a wonderful representative of the rich part of the world we are lucky to live in. Stay happy and prosper!

I'm loving your blog -- thanks for letting us virtually travel with you! And I have been taking a Spanish class at MHCC since September -- hablamos Español cuando vuelves, sí?
Effigy so who is that effigy of anyway. Looks an awful lot like a tall redheaded guy we know (if you switch the beautiful green hair to red - it has your ruddy skin at least). You haven't pissed off the locals I hope. Stealing to many waves and mooching too many drinks down there? Oh and you didn't mention if you did any cross dressing over the new year celebration?
Bluffs How far off are those pinkish bluffs that I see in the distance in your pictures? I bet there's a juicy left coming off those things. Nice shots and narrative, brah.
Van't Hoffian Where I come from in Grand Rapids, Michigan, taking adventurous and mischievious risks (ususally with tequila somewhere in the mix) are called "Van't Hoffian." Good to see the practice has reached the shores of Ecuador!
