The city is remarkably beautiful, a series of horse shoe shaped canals separate the city streets, providing a picturesque contrast between old buildings and the waterways. The city was designed and constructed many years ago as a major trading post. The canals then provided an efficient mode of transporting goods, but now they have pretty much lost their original practicality, serving only as channels for guided city tours.
