I am writing my blog via Microsoft word to publish at a later date. Carol’s tent had everything else but wireless. What the hell, Carol? So where do I begin? Do I continue with Carol’s tent? Because it survived an entire night of crazy wind and thunderstorms with torrential downpour. Good tent, Carol! Or do I begin with the fact that I wasn’t mauled by a bear, gored and stampeded by bison, punctured by an elk, or boiled alive by some hydrothermal vent. Nope, I am safe and sound. Happy Mom? So, I’ll begin with yesterday. Yesterday, I departed from Custer , South Dakota to Yellowstone. What should be a fairly typical 400 miles turned into an over 10 hour affair. I didn’t know this, but Wyoming is actually the richest state in the union as ... read more

I would like to update you completely on my latest adventures. My brain dead haze did not fully capture exactly what went on our last night in Wisconsin and our driving trip yesterday. So here goes... We got up on Monday morning and decided we needed to spend one more day in the mid west. It was a perfect day to do just about anything. Not too hot, sunny, low humidity...none of that Virginia weather. We headed to Milwaukee to hit up Summerfest. This is a two week long concert where they draw huge acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eric Clapton, Tim McGraw, Brooks and Dunn. Each night of the two weeks they have a huge headliner. Ticket admission before 4pm is $8, ticket admission after 4pm is $15. (This is a very important detail to ... read more

Too tired to write these are big states that take FOREVER to drive through.... Yesterday, Summerfest in Milwaukee, Miller Brewery Tour, Milwaukee Brewers game (they lost) and random flip cup game. So yesterday we spent the day touring Madison, WI. Vinny and Jen are some serious tour guides. We did EVERYTHING. First off, Porn in the Morn breakfast at the local bar actually called Bennetts Meadowwood Country Club. There was nothing high class about this place, and yes while we were eating our breakfast serious porn was playing on tvs, gross and weird. The eggs were great, however. Next up, they took us to their grocery store, where you can literally walk around and sample ALL the foods. Justin was in heaven, sampling all the crazy shit that I don't normally allow him to buy in the grocery store. This also meant you could sample the cheese and beer. I actually think it tops Wegmans. Following the grocery store, we were then taken to the University of ... read more

So it's 9:22, but really it's 10:22 am. Yesterday was quite a day! I would like to go on record and say Ohio sucks. It is long, flat, and BORING. That state would not end. I am sorry to my friends who live there for offending you. However, if you live there it's not so bad, because you get to stop in it--not just keep driving, driving, driving... We've made it to Wisconsin. That is over 860 miles in one day. It was a surprisingly civil ride, since Justin and I usually want to kill each other on road trips. I let him make stops when we wanted. He has to pee ALL the time, and he likes to get snacks. Needless to say, it usually annoys me. This time was different. We made a pit ... read more

It is Friday, June 25th. I don't think I could be more organized. I have thought this through so thoroughly there can not possibly be one item I have forgotten. From audiobooks and power cords, to frying pans and spatulas. I am ready. I am also ready to escape this heat. It has been over 95 degrees the past several days here in Alexandria, VA. Heading north will hopefully provide some relief. I'm eager for the windows down, Bulletproof blaring, and and my ever reliable navigator, Justin, to be passed out in the passenger seat. Justin's been working really long hours, so all the trips planning and details have been left up to me. Currently, Justin has a knife, pillow, blanket, and fantasy football magazine packed. If you throw in some boxers and duct tape, I'm ... read more
