Crossing the road in Vietnam Hi there. Welcome to Vietnam :)
I read your entry - all lessons are correct but I think that there're some more tips for you.
- If you step slowly, the moving object will not give you necessary space. Then, keep walking naturally.
- Making signs to moving people to get their attention by waving your hand or arm (right side for 1st half of the road and left side for the 2nd half). Smiling also help.
- Yes, no sharp or suddend move allowed but if there's no object heading your direction fast and you have spce, you can move quickly - run if you can.
Practice crossing the road few times, you'll get more confidence and thing will be as easy as "One two three"
Wish you all the best staying in Vietnam. Enjoy!
Hi! Well you finally made it then - although the journey sounds like an adventure in itself!! Hope the rest of your travel plans go a little more smoothly, how much is a taxi around the whole of South America??!! Dave, you should have done a bit more training (what am I talking about - some / any form of training) before you left! Look after him Sherpa Godby! Enjoy your travels, we look forward to some photos if you get time x
This is Viv's little blog! I've lost my mind and gone the whole hog and given up everything I own and decided to travel as much as I can in 12months or so. I head out to South America in January 2008, then come back, cover a little bit of Europe and then out to India and beyond!! Follow my voyage of discovery, the ups and downs, and no doubt the downright mind boggling experiences!!!
And I'm still putting photos on!!
Came back in February 2009 landed a job in beautiful Herefordshire within weeks and am happy working away now. Planning next trip though!
