Buy the oatmeal. Hi, Grandpa and I have decided after reading this that you should have bought the oatmeal regardless of price!!! We really enjoyed reading about it as long as we did not have to eat the crab or prepare the chicken.
vegan eeewwww i am even more vegan after reading this. :P
i learned the way to get a veg meal is to assert that i follow a strict buddhist diet when i visit china. hopefully i get to use that bit of knowledge someday!
love reading your blog, so glad you guys are having such a wonderful adventure!
hiiii Joni hiii Joni, all by chance saw your blog here which showed me shanghai in your eyes, seems that you are enjoying the time living here, and i do love your words and views, i am also living in shanghai, and glad to know you, will follow your blog:-)
I really admire you, Joni, I could never go 100 floors up in any building. Just the idea gives me the chills and shivers. What beautiful pictures and wonderful memories you are creating. Thanks for sharing.
Expo Thanks for sharing such wonderful photos of the Expo! Such amazing buildings and most are so rich in culture. I am amazed at the similarities of Expo 92 Sevilla, Spain where I worked. The US Pavilion looks a lot like it did there. I wonder if they just use the same building every year. I love the mascot. Looks a little like Gumby.
The haircut part was awsome!!! I am Chinese-Canadian and about to leave for China 2 days from now. My first stop is Shanghai, Because I grew up in Vancouver and only go back to visit relatives every couple of years, I am doing a little big of reading to get to know the culture. I was planning to get a haircut in China. After you above-mentioned ordeal regarding the "high-end" salon, I'll definitely re-think my decision. This is so freakin' funny.
ur blog Sue gave me the link to I'd blog what an exciting time for both of u. Have a wonderful holiday season and take good care of each other. See u when u get back to the states Ann
Hi, Thank you for another interesting look at your lives in China. Very enjoyable to see all the pictures and imagine where you are. I may have to get a book from the library and read up on China. I normally only read mysteries but could probably improve my mind. But I could be like one of the ladies I deliver library books to, she told me just bring me fiction I am past the point of trying to improve my mind. She is ninety two so I guess I can see her point.
Everything fine with Grandpa and me. We are looking forward to Thanksgiving which I am sure you heard about from your mom. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving wherever you are. Will be looking forward to hearing if you had turkey.
Love, Grandma Joy
yikes I love the random thoughts. Its weird to hear you say you've been over there for a month. I feel like its been forever. lol. I love the blog. Blair's about the eye socket massage made me laugh out loud. I can only imagine. I would be clueless as to how to communicate with others and would probably eat papa johns every night.
Also I would have a severe problem staying in an apt with cockroaches. eww. it gives me the heebee jeebies. and i would not be able to survive without fruit.
miss you!
Hey! Hey Blair and Joni! I am glad to hear you guys are doing well. I was laughing really hard reading this post Blair. Bob (my brother) was telling me its illegal for women to cut hair in China. My favorite thing I saw in China was the open air dentists. When I was in Chengdu our culinary school only had the hoel in the floor toilets, no toilet paper, and no soap in the bathroom! I was always happy to find a restaurant where "Westerners" frequented that had a regular toilet.
I am glad you guys are having fun and enjoying your time over there!
Your life is just one exciting thing after another- rats and cockroaches to keep you company. I am happy to settle for my boring life in Wis. Sounds like you are coping very well and learning a new lifestyle. Please continue to keep us posted.
Thanks I found you by mistake because my name is Joni Lynn.....wait for it......Blair. I am a stay home mom of four who lives in Missouri. Sounds like you are embracing your adventures in Shanghai. I may have to live vicariously through your travel blog. Thanks for sharing:)
What an experience. I am more than ever thankful I can go to Great Clips when I want a haircut and be out in 15-20 minutes. But I have to admit your description of your adventure had me laughing out loud while trying to imagine what was happening to you. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Joni and Blair We miss you so much!! I am excited to follow your travels. Jared wants you to set up your own karaoke in the park. Blair can play the guitar while you sing!!
VERY ENTERTAINING What a great idea. I loved reading about your experiences and keeping in contact with you. Joni, you should be a writer. It is very entertaining as well as informative.
Love, Grandma
