I love Madrid and Toledo. That picture of the post office in Madrid brings back memories. I remember the first time I saw it I thought it was a palace or something, but then they told us it was just the post office...what a bummer.
was the castle hike as bad as the one in Greece? it couldn't be if you want to hike it once a week...
the US is totally behind on maternity leave...in lots of Scandinavian countries mothers and fathers get a month or so off.
also, i looked up the Japan pregnancy thing. it has something to do with lunar months. most pregnancies are approx. 40 weeks and in lunar months 40 weeks=10 months. still a pretty weird concept...
MISS you!
:) Glad you're still having fun!
I saw Eagle Eye a few days ago, you should definitely see it in English, I loved it.
And 10 months of being pregnant? WTF? I totally laughed out loud when I read that :)
Haha, the milk was the same in France. I'm normally a really big milk drinker, but it creeped me out too much so my milk ingestion was limited to my morning hot chocolate.
Go with some mashed potatoes for dinner...its an incredibly foreign concept to Europeans. MISS YOU!!!!!!!
I love your comment about the milk! The same thing happened to me in Argentina. I was terrified the day I opened the cabinet and saw boxes of milk lined up all in a row! It is like astronaut food.
I knew Avila sounded familiar. St. Teresa...duh Freya. The pictures of the wall kind of remind of Carcassonne in France. I so totally understand the random TV times! In France, I think most of the shows, at least the primetime ones started at something-50...such a weird and random time! I MISS YOU LOTS LAURA!!!!!!!!
Can't wait! Sarah gave me a link to this travleblog so I could keep up on your experience. So far I have been VERY rivited! I can't wait for your next entry. It sounds Like your having a great time, and your writing skills are awsome, I feel like I am there. Keep em coming.

Kudos to you, Ms. Masko for your awesome spanish-speaking skills.
That's hilarious about your host mom and the jacket. What do you think she'd do with me? haha!
Laura it sounds like you're having a great time...I'm glad you calmed down and settled your nerves. I was totally forced to eat beets too! Although I knew what I was eating, I just didn't know how to explain my picky-ness with food. Don't let those crazy Europeans influence your vote for president!!!! Haha, I wish Americans were as interested in world affairs as the Europeans are interested in American affairs. Anyways, can't wait to hear more!
I <3 Barcelona! Yeah for fun trips! And for seeing the Olympic stadium. We drove past in when I was there but we didn't get to go inside :( I'm glad you're having so much fun!!
Hey Ms. Laura! I'm glad you're having fun. I also applaud your decision to stay indoors during the rain. You have enough trouble walking around at IC where there isn't as much tile or marble. That probably would have resulted in a spectacular "WHOA!" fall. Haha.
Also, that one drawing of Picasso does look just like Johnny Depp!
Thanks for such a thorough update on your trip. It sounds wonderful! I really enjoyed reading this, Laura, and will check back often. Enjoy! (And be safe!)
WHOA!!! So, you wrote a novel, eh? I didn't read it yet... it's too much for me. I printed it and I'm hoping to have it read by the time you get back :)
I miss my little sid man... talk to you soon!
