Wow! I was already impressed with Lucy's maturity and bravery and this definitely clinched it for me. Taking off on your own to hunt down the bus station, in the face of adverse information - you go girl!
ok, so assuming you are back in England can you send me jelly babies and those Mentos on crack thingies that Jason likes please? I will send you American goods, being at the inflated, recession prices they are!
Ireland is great! It's so relaxing, and there are a lot of cool things to see! Mark highly recommends Germany or the Netherlands. if you are into the ancients ruins and amazing "how the hell did they do that?" kind of things, I'd say Greece. But if you're sticking to the UK I'd definitely recommend Ireland. Wales is ... there is nothing there. And Scotland is boring. Edinbourough is fun and cool, but thats pretty much all there is in Scotland (Loch Ness is cool, but pretty much like all those other Castles over there....except for the catapult.). So yes, Ireland.
I'm sorry you're disappointed that you have to leave. You have a long life ahead of you. I'm sure you'll be back!
You're not infuriating, you are just both stressed to the max!!
Of course i would LOVE for you to be home with me!! I am SO SO impressed that you made it this far! Reading about your first 2 weeks in India, I was ready to meet you at the airport! It sucks that every time you try to relax, something more stressful happens. Well, I work at a cupcake shop now, so anytime you come home I'll be at your side stuffing yummy cupcakes down your throat and making you wash it down with milk, or non-diseased water.
When I was in Italy we all wanted to leave after 3 weeks, the last 2 weeks were draining, I hardly remember them at all, only the first 3 weeks. But India is MUCH different, I would throw in the towel, but I can tell you two are troopers!
re: No tickets Thanks for this, but everyone was holding pieces of paper that looked like tickets, and we didn't have them, and therefore didn't feel happy wandering up to the temple. I don't know what they were, so it's perfectly possible that we were mistaken
Its really the bad time you have chosen to visit India.Few have courage to visit India during hot summer and that too in North. But now that you are there, you should directly go to South to enjoy monsoon. Spend there 2 months and then come back North.Thats the advice I will give. It is going to be more hot in North during this time.FYI,Best time to visit India is Sept-Feb.
So sorry white people That is funny... Of the small percentage of people who actually get sick it happens to you two. Kidding of course! Sack it up and have fun.
SUP Hey, I hope you are having fun in my homeland. You should definitely go to the golden temple (a Sikh place of worship) the Taj Mahal of course, the city of Patala (fathers side of family lives there) and the city of Chandigarh (Moms side), both have lots of history to take in, and very safe for you white people. Anyway, glad to see you are still alive and have not killed one another, let me know if you want anymore suggestions...
Love Paul
still reading... "So of course, I decided she was wrong and just being a negative nelly, and putting that mental positive spin on things really helped me to see the better bits."
that's why you rock. good times.
When in Rome 'When in Rome' it's OK to not get up early and to sample copious quantities of new food (especially on the week-ends). Have fun exploring whether you know the language as well as you thought you did or you just enjoy getting lost!
Dad
Best Attitude Ever I want to go on the record as saying that Lucy has the best attitude ever. When it comes to living abroad, in a country where she is master (mistress?) of neither the geography nor the language, she is absolutely intrepid. She goes everywhere, does everything, meets people right and left. I will continue to try to convince her to whip out her map or ask for directions earlier in her forays, but she continues to inspire me. Brava! Anzi, bravissima!
-- Jennifer (the best cousin Lucy has in Rome, with whom she has been staying)
We are recent graduates of various university degrees, on both sides of the pond, and having both the time and inclination to see a little more of the world and experience life on several different continents, we're off to explore Italy and India for the next six months... full info
