the half german inside of me and you :) hey lovely lady,
tall men you say? hmmm sounds like I need to make a visit. (just kidding, oh and graham and I are still going strong! haha)
today I am exhausted. I started work at 7:30.. loading boxes onto boats and trucks (food for the next camp) i then went straight to the canteen to please the needs of 152 people. I inventoried everything and restocked the goodies. Counting a few thousand dollars and giving the kids back their leftover baggies of money made me realize why kids get cavities. 11 hours of straight working (i ate my lunch in the canteen too) is the reason for this exhaustion.
So there you go Liz, that is not what you are missing! I love to read your blog and I think that when you get home you should find oodles of adventures to write about (perhaps some adventures with your fave cousin)
I am already looking forward to the family reunion in August will be the highlight of my year I'm sure!!!
well i think i need to walk or swim or sit or something other than counting and being around gluttenous children.
I am sorry this isn't the most jolly post but I needed someone to vent to and you are such a great listener. :)
laura
so do i liz,
updated myself on your adventures this morning, sounds like a life changing experience. I do wish I was there, and hope that someday we'll be able to travel through europe again. when do you return? Looking forward to seeing your pictures and trophies. Love from Calvin, Ceri, Annabelle and Luke.
oompa! well Liz, as they say, you get around ;)
I am so thrilled for you! for your experiences and adventures! I do wish I could be there with you but at the same time i can't complain about my present situation. I am on sunny anvil island with awesome friends, great food and a gorgeous view. I have been working a bit getting the canteen set up and I am about to start to paint the floor of the canteen which is hopefulyl easier than cleaning it was. We will also be setting up the water trampoline today which is no small feat. Nevertheless, I am content as a clam and I have no desire to be back in the city any time soon....
I look forward to seeing you when you meander back to this side of the world, but for now I will dream of your black beaches and bicycle cruises.
love you and miss you,
Laura.
P.s. no greek boys for you!!! (the same advise you gave me applies to you missie!)
Happy Birthday Hi Liz... Happy 21.!!!! Have been thoroughly enjoying your writing... Awesome!! Maybe photo journalism.....?! You paint word pictures that one can see, feel, and almost smell. Enjoy every sound, sight and scent! Chat up the locals even if you can't speak the language--enthusiasm makes up for a lot. I've sent a little gift to your bank account. Have a glass of wine and some wonderful bread and cheese for me please. Love you! Jordon sends his best! joanjac@hotmail.com
oh Liz! happy birthday my lovely cousin! you are missed and loved muchly but I am so proud of you and all that you have experienced to far. Really Liz, i doubt that you can be all that arrogant or cruel... but i suppose I will just take your word for it.
21 is a huge deal. I can't believe I am not even twenty. so unfair.
well sorry this isn't longer i have to jet to work and make banana choco chip muffins with the kiddies. then tomorrow i am off on an adventure to osoyoos :)
you are rad!
laura.
Happy Birthday!! I hope all is still going so well for you, and that you are still marveling in the beauty of God's creation. Have a fantastic birthday, and make sure you eat lots of cake somewhere exotic!
a jealous mess Well this sounds incredible!
I enjoyed yet another day of Vancouver rain today... however, instead of moping around a watching saturday afternoon tele I went on a hiking adventure with Graham to Lynn Valley. Naturally we didn't bring any rain jackets and thoroughly soaked in all the beautiful surroundings. What was supposed to be a 4 hour hike was done in 2 and a half. (we ran half the way down) Then a quick dip in the ice cold river and we were off to go home for soup!
okay well even though you are having all the fun I thought that I would share a little bit of the fun I am creating here... Can't wait for your next blog!!!
cuzzie.
It sounds as though you could do this for years and never tire of it! I envy your freedom to go and see the things I also have always dreamed of seeing. Your exquisite writing is bringing it all to life. Happy trails!
Wow! What an experience. Best wishes for your birthday, Liz. We received the parcel, though my gift was missing (sniff). The girls were really excited, esp. since the parcel arrived on Kay's birthday. Thanks for your thoughtfulness.
I want to wish you a very happy birthday wherever you celebrate. We are looking forward to hearing all about your trip when you get back also at family reunion. We enjoyed having Joe here for the weekend also Dan and Kathie. They were a big help with shed. We have had lots of projects this summer. I am still recovering from surgery hope the pain will soon leave. Guess I keep over doing it. We have put in lots of flowers and some garden. Looking forward to the reunion. Sounds like most everyone will come. Hope we will have good weather. take care and have a great birthday.
Love and prayers. GrandMa and Joe
take me with you... oh my, I am definitely off dreaming about this beautiful place you describe. It feels so magical and very unlike the dreary rainy day we are having.
I am so happy that the clouds have lifted for you and I look forward to more poetic posts. :)
Wow, I totally wish I was there!! This blog thing is a fantastic idea, and I agree with the comment above, you are a fantastic writer! I can see in my mind what you describe, and it's almost as if I am there with you two. Give my love to Alice would you? Keep on treckin, and eat something cool and exotic for me too!
I love the photos, they are beautiful. That's funny about the statues.
PS Your are a awesome writer Liz, you should look into a creative writing course.
missing you, honey... Thanks so much for all your wonderful newsy entries. We are just so thrilled you get this chance to be in Paris smelling the clouds of incense, learning about dingy hotels and eating crepes! Lots of love (am i allowed to say that?), Mom
Ohhh, it sounds amazing Liz....Notre dame....I wish I was there with you.....Well, you are right....remember all the bad predicaments we got into on our trips....they do make excelent storys later on....miss you.
That's Paris Hey Liz,
Reading this reminded me of my accidental forrays into the wrong side of both Paris and London. It took me a while to clue in that certain quartiers had a "reputation". Eh bien, at least you're getting a well-rounded experience. Notre Dame sounds awesome. All is well here. We had 10 girls sleeping over this weekend for El's B Day - Jer was thrilled. Take care, and a big "Bonjour" to Alice!
Dam that sticky shift on that stupid keyboard.....I am glad you have found education (i.e. School children) wherever you go....you should see if you can go to pemberly....maybe find mister Darcy....uggg, I am brimming with jealousy.............YOU ARE MY COOLEST friend.
I am drawn in by your words... i just read a few paragraphs to kate and we are both marvelling at the way your words come to life. seriously Liz, you were born to write! (no pressure though ;) )
anyways, i am off to eat some Pho. (it is this crazy kind of vietnamese soup that kate loves with her whole heart! ... i am indifferent to it; it makes my lips burn and the thought of raw beef sitting in the bottom of a soup bowl so it can cook doesn't really tickle my fancy. i am thinking i will just stick wiht the spring rolls like the little white girl i am... haha!)
miss you, love you...
P.S. (personal secret- is what paul says it means...) remember doing dishes and singing songs together? what a summer! :)
well missie, i have floods of memories coming back to my first travel experience and i am grinning as i hear about your airplane seat squirming and giggles of glee! i love that i get to share this excitement with you even though i am miles away...
i love seeing things with fresh eyes and you have inspired me to do that today. despite the pouring rain and dreary day i feel like there is exploring to do and you are to thank for this.
i am looking forward to living vicariously through you and all your wonderful descriptions... keep em coming!
in the wise words of my cousin, "stay away from the boys!!!" haha. hopefully you will listen to me better than i did to you ;)
one PROUD (and slightly jealous) cuzzie! look at you and your mature way of dealing with stress... in the wise words of Bib Marley, "don't worry, about a thing, cause every little thing, is gonna be alright" (now imagine me and my long limbs dancing around to this song in my room :D)
i love you and think of you often!
yay for travelling! You are going to have so much fun! As you walk through the England airport you are going to have to pinch yourself to prove that you are not dreaming.
I\'m on a two-month European Adventure with my friend Alice! We\'re backpacking around, meeting lots of interesting people, seeing fabulous sights, eating interesting food, and getting smelly feet!... full info
