Comment's not for this blog for the Yellow Poo one Sorry I am catching up on all yr blogs, have been busy and suddenly thought I'd like see what's been going on - they are great reading. Glad I missed the bits when you were having a ghastly (Joel doesn't believe I really use that word) time. Glad it's better and the chocolate sounds sublime. I was only going to say - regarding the Yellow Poo page - that humans are meant to taste of Spam. Too long and boring to tell you how I know... but I do! Luce x
Mel Mel will sort it for you, she always mends my laptop and she's really good at photos too - I'll send her out. Zip wiring sounds fab. Oh and I just spoke to Cris today and he's going to get the stuff soon - some through the post, some to be collected. Cool! Luce x
thank you! i meant ecuador i think! thank you though, am i right in hearing that ecuador means center of the world? i read it in the uk before leaving. if its wrong i apologise!
meaning of Quito Hello,
I just had to make a correction about your statement that Quito means center of the world. My husband is Ecuadorian and I have been there at least 7 times. I lived in Ecuador for 9 months. That is why I was very surprised to read that Quito means center of the world. I had never heard that before and didn't think it was right, so I asked my husband. The name Quito, for the capital city of Ecuador comes from the name a a tribe that inhabitied the area called the Quitus. Middle in quichua is "chowpee" - nothing to do with Quito. Just wanted to set that straight.
Dear F. Queen of E...... LOVE the blog, I can really identify with it and understand how wet it is, hot it is, how much you need a doughnut, want to shut the cockerell up and avoid the chicha - especially if they are making it without the addition of sausages. Seems like you'd better avoid w too, hope Chris isn't worried (Chris DON'T worry!!). So glad the Leatherman has been put to good use, what does anaconda taste like? Missing you madly. Mel and I are meeting up with Olivia, possibly Carol and John MG who are coming to an SES scientific lecture on Monday 15th. Joel is better!!! Roy is our hero. Elodie has just arrived in the UK. Want so much to come out there and go boulder leaping with you - Luce xxxxxxxxxxx PS: It is OK to discuss the c of your p if you are still out there - it's us back here who are trying, unsucessfully in some cases, to stop.... PPS: Have you discovered the tiny surprise planted in the bottom of your rucksack yet - bit worried you'll have simply thought (quite correctly actually) that it was a bit of rubbish and thrown it out.....

I have some photos of Leonie if you'd like to see them Hi,
I was with Leonie for a couple of weeks and have some photos, if you'd like me to send them to you please contact me at: lucy@ses-explore.org That is my work email address and I'm only there part-time so you may not get an immediate reply - but I'll do my best.
Leonie - hope you are well, keep having fun and we all look forward to seeing you next Spring. I am busy at home working away at the mashed potato...... Lucy x
Wow doesn't really do this justice does it? Can just imagine you stuck into all of that and thoroughly enjoying the basicness of it all. Glad the food was good - guaranteed to keep the spirits up. Can't wait to see the pictures - assume you'll get them on CD? Take care - am sure you've learnt from the ants episode!

Well Done The Smellys Well, that was some expedition! Thank goodness for duck tape, sharp machetes and scotch. A good job, well done. Am sure the colonel knew lots of words rhyming with socks ...... Hopefully you will have lots more happy and memorable trips and times ahead. Ever onwards. Good luck and look forward to the next instalment of "Amazing but True". Lots of love, Dad.
I hope you are safe in the deepest jungle and the Colonel is looking after you. Your mum has just cooked me a lovely roast dinner in the safety of her house. Boring!! Have you any photos of wild tigers yet. Lol Godmother Pat xx and Dennis xx
Strange Creatures Hey Leonie!!
Great work in getting some photos on here - though some titles of what we're looking at might help a little bit! What's the bird in the glass tank thing - and what is the little creature hiding under a rock on the volcano?
Like the jumper but I do think you should have gone with one of those excellent stripey numbers!! They're fab!
Enjoy the cloud forest - I look forward to hearing all about that one!
Bx
Fantastic pictures Very impressed that you remembered your physics! Did you really not take a coat up that volcano? Trust you to be lucky enough to find a shop on the way up! I wonder how many frozen bodies you tripped over on the way........
Love the story of the piglet - can just imagine you killing yourself laughing at that. Trip sounds wonderful - I'm glad you're also meeting some interesting people - sometimes that's the best bit!
Take care love

Good Start Weather same as here, then. And a reminder that we in the UK are very fortunate to have the NHS, despite its problems. Regarding those Americans, no one really knows. Best to ensure that at all times, however unlikely, you are NOT mistaken for one! When hitch-hiking in Europe in the '60s, I had to make clear more than once that I was NOT German - at which point the locals became more friendly. Will stop now before offending any more nationalities. Carry on researching - and not too much drinking! xXx
Glad breakfast was adequate! That's my girl - satisfy the stomach first then she can tackle anything! Please don't bring any frogs home - I'll be happy with photographs. Hope you find your language school and that you haven't been learning the wrong kind of Spanish! Can you upload the sounds of the frogs? - that would be fascinating. Don't fall out of the hammock when you're up in the cloud forest. I have an image of a hammock 500feet up in the air - please tell me I've got it wrong! I won't be bored by museums etc...........I want to hear everything!
How Cool Hey Lennie - first time ive been on here and it looks ace! I shall miss you heaps but cant wait for all the installments and will check this all the time and update you on whats new in Sunny Swindon ha ha lots of love darling xxxxxx
Good Luck! and come home safely! Am I really going to have to wait 9 months for you again? Hopefully you will have learnt how to use capital letters by then!
Glad I'm the first in your blog - needn't worry about me keeping in touch - try and stop me! Send us some photos too - preferably without any scary wildlife (unless it's human).
Love you lots XXXXX

Need a photo of the bug
To see its little face, that's all I need. Well that - and a cold gin and tonic would be good too........
