Ah, Barcelona! I wish I couldn've taken photos of us arriving to Barcelona, because-from what I could see from the other person's window-it looked very impressive. I got a little scared for a second because I thought, "Oh dear! Alone in a huge airport. What shall I do??" Then, I realized "You're in Spain!" and I got all giddy. (It was like that through the rest of my trip to Castellon. I would be sitting there all chill and then, my brain would remind me that it's Spain, not some random countryside that I'm looking at. Then, I'd grin like a fool.) My cellphone was completely useless once I left Philadelphia. I can only use it as a clock and to listen to my music. Oy. My flight was scheduled to fly out of Jackson at 6 am, which is fine, except that I live 1 & 1/2 hours from Jackson! Luckily, my aunt lives about 20 minutes away from the airport so, we spent the night at her house. The airline website said that I should be at the airport 3 hours before the departure time, but we all overslept! I didn't get to the airport until 5 am, but made it through with a few minutes to spare. (Time management is not a skill my people possess!) Because we were so rushed, I didn't get to say a proper goodbye to my family. It was a quick hug and bye then, I as OFF. There were no tears or anything because there was literally no time for it. I am starting this blog to record my first trip to Europe. I will spend five glorious weeks in Spain, which is something that I've wanted to do for a long, long time. I remember very distinctly wishing we could learn more about Ferdinand and Isabella than Columbus. (I even went home and looked them up in our family encyclopedias.) So, years and years later I'm finally off to the homeland (haha). But as luck would have it, I'm a terrible procrastinator and didn't apply for my passport until early April.
