I want to visit the ICHIRO restaurant Hey Kelvin, this is funny I've been to Richmond so many time, but I don't remember I have been to this village. I will make sure I go visit next time since the port looks so nice, and it is such a good place to jog or to dine during summer. You know what makes me want go visit that restaurant you go because of the restaurant name. Ichiro Suziki is as known as a the first MLB player to join Japanese Ball of fame. was selected as 2007 All star game MVP. Also this make me think of my childhood memory in Taiwan, since i were very young, my uncle took me to the fishing port to bid some seafood and fish to bring it home. I also remember my dad's friend who used to bid black tuna because you get to big with other customer and the vendor will sell it with a cheaper price comparing to the one you buy in the market.
From Michele Cheng Steveston Village is such a nice place to visit. It seems like you have a great experience there, Kevin. I always go there during the summer time for their fish and chip and fresh fruit yogurt. I have visited the Japanese restaurant you visited. The food there tastes quite good but I have found that the food item is quite expensive. The scenery at Steveston Village is beautiful at the evening when the sunset comes. Oh, I also remember there are many dog walkers, did you run into many of them?? :P
Stevenson Village Hey Kelvin!
What an amazing experience! I always find it really fascinating to visit tourist sites that operate today in the same general way they operated in the past. I bet the salmon was absolutely amazing, and the sashimi more so! Because I am not familiar with British Columbia can you clarify whether Stevenson Village is in a popular tourist area or off the beaten track?
A few questions for you:
Do they sell product right off the fishing boats or is there a designated market area?
You mention the large amount of product that was being purchased do you know if restaurant operators purchase from these markets?
Are you aware if there are sustainable practices in place?
You mention that there are several developments taking place. What types of developments? and do you think that they will take away from the historic character and 'rural' feel of these types of markets?
You also mention that Stevenson Village has a fair amount of potential. What types of things can you see Stevenson Village doing (for example, in respects to culinary tourism, what types of new markets or expansion do you think could take place that would show positive results for Stevenson Village)?
Are there lots of restaurants in the village?
What sets Stevenson Village apart from other culinary tourism destinations in the area? Are there other markets close by?
Next time I am in BC, and providing it is relatively close by I will definitely check it out, sounds like an awesome way to spend the afternoon.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks,
Jana
