My travels revolve around air conditioning, clean toilets and good food 😊 Amen. I am 14 years old, facebook addict and if you would like to see more photos, you are welcome to stalk me on facebook :D
All everyone wanted to do was to get the hell out of Guizhou. The situation was looking hopeless. If it gets worse, students would have to be sent home. It was sad really because the hosts cooked a table full of breakfast for us. At the breakfast table, I carefully avoided those fragile girls who were still shaken from last night. I sat with the my new friends who I made on camp, those who were not so easily defeated by mountains and who appreciated the hospitality of the locals. We left the village sometime between 9 and 10. Peopled eyed longingly at the coke on the drinks stand. I was surprised that I was walking on bitumen, civilization at last! I couldn’t help notice packs being passed , after asking around I found out that ... read more
I unzipped the tent to find the searchlight glaring into my eyes. I swore at the person with contempt as they laughed at the state of my morning hair. It was 5:30, yet the hilltops were still silhouetted against the moon. I gave my tent buddies a nudge, none budged. I gave up and made my own way to the hole, trying not to look down. By 6, all tents were unzipped; I had trouble rolling the mat and sleeping bag but I had no intention to copy the girls who at that point were all checking out themselves against the back of a spoon while some guy did all the work. Just then I saw a teacher walking past holding a cup of coffee, how I could do with some caffeine! Instead we got powered ... read more
My roommates and I took turns to have showers, but being up at 5:30 didn’t give us much time to soak ourselves. I got out of the shower in time to see a roommate putting on makeup (dear God). We had a lousy breakfast. Everyone seemed to be eating a plentiful of eggs, and I swear I saw eggs disappearing into people’s pockets. Without drying my hair I plunged myself into the icy cold of the Guizhou morning. The same buses were waiting, never had the hot fume been so welcoming. The sun rose as we drove deeper into mountains, and further away from civilization. It was midday when we got ditched at a dingy side-road restaurant where we cherished our last lunch on a table. We were through with quite the usual ‘traditional’ food (which ... read more
All lights were out in the compound, yet I was already up doing last minute checks through my 70 liter bag for sufficient changes of underwear. I scrutinized at the checklist, saying 'check' to myself repetitively. At 7: 45 I was supposed to meet a friend of mine downstairs to leave for the airport together. Thank god I didn’t bring my bag downstairs, because I waited 15 minutes in fresh morning cold for her. It was 8 o’clock when I finally bade goodbye to dad and scrambled into the car. My mood certainly did not improve knowing it was not my fault that we were going to be late. I hated being late, because I was so well known for my punctuality. When we arrived at the Guangzhou Baiyun airport (needlessly to say- late), it was ... read more
