Camel Bak
Morning Brian, Thanks for taking the time out to read our blog, I am a huge fan of Camel Bak and will look in to the flow meter, what an excellent Idea. It is certainly earning its pay whilst we are here in Cairns at the moment. All the best Andy

lazy
Enjoy your free time. You will be working eventually - 9-5 long days of sitting in front of the computer dealing with the same SH** in a different country where the workplace doesnt change from day to day. Am I paintng you a good picture? hope you make it back down this end of the country later in the year. Maybe christmas?

$652, for how long? Seems like a lot of money. Or does that include insurance?

Reaching out on behalf of CamelBak. Have enjoyed following your travel log! Was amused at one item in this most recent posting: " ... I just check how much water we have in the CamelBak, so I know how conservative we have to be with water ..." Just wanted to alert you to a new product from CamelBak - Flow Meter - that will provide a digital read of how much water remains in the reservoir, how much you have consumed and how long until it will be empty. A perfect accessory for your travels!

Sapphire and Steel
May not be an exciting day for you but it would be just my kind of day. No sheep in site and plenty of rain and plenty of time to sit around and contemplate my navel. Kimba had 5 puppies on Saturday. 4 males and 1 female. Two plain black like Wally (so we think that Wally must have sneaked in when we weren't watching) two black and brown and one brown. I took some photos (not very good) when they were a day old so will email them. Kimba is very protective for the first couple of days so it is a bit hard to get a good look. She actually had 6 but one was stillborn. They are like little squirming sausages that make the funniest noises. Would love to come to Cairns but I don't think that Caroline,Andy, Wendy and Tiddles would like going without their feeds. Love, Helen

Skinks, dogs and all that
Hiya.......Caroline you look very beautiful as always.....we do miss you with your always smiling face and your zest for life, We are very happy to see you so happy though.......so many contestants on Deal or No Deal are after winning money to go to Australia....we don't blame them. one contestant wanted enough money for her, her partner and her cat to go and live in OZ.....joyfully she won enough with a bit left over..It is great that you found someone to bring your DVD's back to Chandler's Ford....the world is becoming a very small place! We will be delighted to collect them from Ruth's parents. We are suffering at the moment, won't explain how but you will guess.....it is all very well this five fruits and veg per day, but we have a glut of tomatoes and apples at the moment.....delicious made into various dishes, but our tums are not happy!!! Dad has finished pickling all the beetroot..happily did not allow the pressure cooker to blow like he did when I was working and I came home to find the kitchen sprayed red, with a red spotted ceiling. Another young chap at this moment has taken £25 thousand offered so he will be buying his ticket to OZ. From your blogs it seems that there is plenty of space there. Love you...take care Mum and Dad xxx

DHL them!
Hi guys, I have the same task to do shortly - burning DVDs of photographs! What a pleasant thought when the pool is just there and it's nearing 40 degrees!!! I've been told to use DHL in the past, very reliable and alot less agro apparently than other methods of postage from Australia (if you get my drift!). Hope all is going well, very much looking forward to our trip into Arnhem land later this week, should be fab. Speak to you soon WW x x x x

We will be heading to Howard Springs so we could always collect him from there BUT we are still racking our brains of a meeting with you before we head home because we have some things for you too!!!! We love him already and Cherie, Bella and Mousey (with an E!) are very excited about their new best friend!!! You two are just fab. Lots of love and thanks for the extra special blog, we love it!!! Good books
Hey Caroline have read a couple of Nora Roberts books myself and quite enjoyed them. She has written loads of books and also goes by the name of J.D. Robb so shouldn't be too hard to find a few more. She has also written a few trilogies so keep an eye out for them. Your namesakes are very very cute!! Bottle feeding lambs was part of my gorwing up and now my sister does it with her kids. They have baby chickens at the moment so maybe I could convince the kids to call one Kangaroo and one Jack - you never know. Enjoy your house and your TV - there is so much trash you could watch all day long. Take care talk to you soon Jode xx

Stuck on the job
An elderly man in Cairns, Australia got stuck to a toilet after pranksters caked the seat with superglue. The incident occurred in the public conveniences of a shopping centre. Ambulance staff had to carry the victim - still attached to the toilet - out of the precinct, in full view of shoppers. He was then taken to hospital, where industrial-strength solvents were reportedly used to free him from the unexpectedly adhesive apparatus. According to Cairns.com.au, it was the second case of a strong, fast-acting glue being smeared on a seat in the same men's toilets that day. In the earlier incident the man had been able to get up before the glue set. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the elderly man, who did not want to be identified, was "pretty distressed about the whole thing". Cairns Police District's Superintendent Brent Carter has appealed for public help to identify the culprit. "The humiliation of sitting on a toilet while emergency services are working around you trying to free you…I just feel for the man," said Carter. "Then to have to be wheeled out of the shopping centre with the toilet frame still attached to your body is just dreadful." Your in queensland? you didn't? did you? lol

Where is the platypus!
Sorry no platypus, hope you managed the Nandroya walk from henrietta creek, two lots of falls. One smaller one is part of the track. I love it. Good for a chilly swim. I am pretty sure that red cedar actually fell down during the cyclone, the area was pretty well trashed so nice to see the rainforest getting dense again.

Walk tip
You may enjoy Henrietta Creek campground as it has some great waterfall walks and also maybe able to spot platypus in Gollagan Creek very early am or dusk. Not much in facilities but very good walks. Between Millaa Millaa and Innisfail.

Kangaroos and Emus
Hiya. I must say that I think we should be eating kangaroos as well as emus which we did eat in South Africa and found it to be delicious. Wasn't so keen on their biltong though. It would all be very good for us on our cholesterol lowering diets. Happy Wedding Aniversary for the 18th. Lots of love Mum and Dad xxxx

Australia
Caroline and Andy, Sarah and Darryl / are touring Australia in summer apparel The days very hot but the nights can be cold, To escape from wet England with tents to unroll Darryl and Sarah, Caroline and Andy Met outside Cairns, by gosh that was handy From possums to spiders and snakes, oh! be wary Kangaroos and koalas and the odd cassowary The wedge tailed eagles on road kill they spy with camera in hands, then off they do fly! Their blogs are amazing and photos give cheer We hear they've been fossiking, then stop for a beer The gems that they found they took to the shop No fortunes here, so it's no time to stop They swim in the lakes and also the pools Watch out for crocodiles as they are no fools! The water is cold which cools them all down So back to the campsite then a trip into town Reticulated campsites they think are a must but, oh dear when they get there "There's no room for us!" A lamb roast for tea with veggies and dampers The camp fire is lit so off with their jumpers The oven is placed on the embers that glow And in no time at all the food is a "Wow" With no light pollution, in the blackness of night Their stargazing is perfect, they exclaim with delight An inter planetary walk would be just the thing so next time they come a telescope will they bring So, Sarah and Darryl and Caroline and Andy A good time they've had, no need to be dandy With kisses and hugs they go separate ways And promised to meet up one of these days ********************************************

Armchair traveller
Jane back. I would love to do the Savannalander trip, one day! One day hmmm, but not all of us are free spirit and is why we like to read blogs of those who are. I have done a lot of travelling but the finances have caught up so just have to wait and see if another trip is in the wings. I will say that I never wrote a blog and regret it so much. I have some great memories and cannot even remember what country it was! I will be honest and say a Jane blog would read Day 1: Boring: Day 2: Boring Day 3: saw a man with a funny hat: then Day 4 would be the day I write 17 pages because it is the day I travel for. When it all comes together, that elusive experience that perhaps nobody can understand except yourself. Of course those days would be boring to all to read.!! You have done very well with your blogs, both teams! gives us armchairs a chance to travel vicariously, the thrills and the routine. The way it is. Cheers and happy anniversary!

Hi Both,
WE had great fun with Darryl and Sarah, such lovely people, it was an excellent challange and I have to admit that we thought their poem was just fantastic. My best regards Andy

Bloggers Poet Society
Both poems are excellent odes but we think that the Wallaby Wanderers win by the smallest Reticulation! (but we are biased of course!) Best Wishes, Jan and Graham (Sarah's Mum and Dad)
