I'll do the same as you.. Hi, i'm Tami from Bogor, Indonesia.
I'll travel alone again and this time destination will be Hong Kong-Shanghai-Hangzhou at Oct 2010
I begin to consider train from HK to Shanghai but also worried about 20 hrs journey
but that's the cheapest deal i could get instead of paying USD250 for one way flight
your blog really helpful, at least to boost my confident in taking it
Hhh.. i am so worried actually since i am alone, but hey you're too..!
Greets,
Tami
This blog reminds me of a conversation I had with a social worker in a village in Kenya. I was so shocked at the harshness of the lives of the young girls there. Keep writing those blogs and getting us all informed. :)
Not much has changed I served with the US Peace Corps as a teacher at Bweranyangi Girls School outside of Mbarara in 1965-66. I could have taken these same pictures 45 years ago. It is heartbreaking that so little has changed. I pray that Uganda and all its fine people will have the stability that is needed to improve their situtation. With love, from Nevada
Wow! I see you're still working out You may not have a step climber or tread mill handy but it sound like the walking up and down hills and carrying water will keep you in good shape. I am really appreciating your blogs. Keep them coming. lol Leeda
Hi Jen:
It looks like you are having an amazing experience. I appreciate how you are noting the important things like the friendliness of the young people and finding humor in the amenities. I look forward to your updates. Take care of yourself. Love Leeda
In China you have better not to take trains, especially not to buy the hard seat ticket. Because the hard seat compartments are always very crowded just as what Jennifer Paul described, especially during the holidays. As a chinese, I also don't understand why the terrible situation of train transportation still exist. Just because of too many people? I don't think so.
Anyway welcome to China.
scooters I don't think you need a license if you're just visiting and you only want to rent the scooter. you can usually get an international drivers permit at home before you go. I think some of the scooter rental places will accept your passport though. I've got to warn you, it's not like driving at home! the rules of the road seem to be just a suggestion there. :)
scooters did you need a license to ride the scooters? and how much was it to rent one? Just curious, cause I was thinking about doing that when I visit Taiwan in the fall.
Cambodia I'm off to Cambodia for 8 weeks soon and after reading your blog am deffinately going to visit the temples. Am not much of a sightseeing boffin but they do look beautiful...I can just imagine them in the evening with the sun setting behind them.
Thanks for posting! Will be visiting in May so great to see others enjoying their trip - I will use your facts about the City and Temple so I won't have to retype it for my blog!! lol!
Looks great!
