oh my god, i have been obsessively checking your blog to make sure you didn't get swept away in a flood or something. i'm glad you're okay and that you're having a great time! i can't wait to see you and hear all about it. :)
p.s. i finally read all of culture shock india, and was amazed to find out how different all the parts of india are. we must go back together and explore more of the country! i'll ask where the train station is, and you can say everything else. ;)
I'm happy to hear you're having such an incredible trip ('cept for the rain...)! I'm so thrilled for you, Jenn!! Take lots of photos and stay at least slightly dry...
wow... Hi, Jennifer! I've really enjoyed reading all of your entries, and I have to tell you, I'm even more jealous than I was before! I was just telling someone last week that I'd really like to learn Hindi [I had a taste of it @ Bellaire for cultures class] and here you are taking classes and using it every day! I'm really impressed. :) Your adventures have made me even more excited for my year abroad in Japan, even if it won't be quite the same thing. I'd love to see more pictures and perhaps you can teach us a few commonly used Hindi phrases? Please stay safe and enjoy the rest of your stay there!
Monsoon Floods are interesting as long as you can stay high and dry and someone will bring you food and the power only goes off for a short time. This might cut into your wood carving time (or you can sit in the house and carve). And about that live power line, I'm glad you DON"T know by now! Loved the pics from your weekend and having a great room and great bath and good sleep sounds ideal as a break from your adventure. I'm so glad you signed onto this web blog. It has been so much fun keeping up with you this way. However, DO take care of yourself--at least 900 have died in and around Mumbai from the floods and mudslides--so sad. How do you know when a temple elephant is in heat? Love, Mina
ha, i am laughing out loud at your newfound cricket knowledge. a trouncing, eh? sounds fascinating. not. anyway, i hope the rain calms down so you can get home on time. i want to see you! i miss you. oh, i almost forgot. ilana mcquinn friended me on the facebook, so maybe she friended you too.
Hi Jenn We just got together with Jo and she gave us your blog address. Wow! What a wonderful trip! We can't believe all the exciting things you've done. Sounds like you'll have a whole new wardrobe by the time you get back. Did you know you would be there during monsoon season? We're proud of you for taking on such an adventure!
the weekend That's great another travel site wants your pics! Quite cool. As I said before, stay dry and have a great weekend. I'm very glad you are traveling with friends. Post more pics. Would love to see you in your new clothes and the temple elephants. Love, Mina
I'm so excited for you! This all sounds so amazing. I thought I was so cool going off on my roadtrip for two weeks and being all independent, but you, you're in India doing amazing things a gazillion miles away from people you're used to. I'm so proud of you and happy and a little jealous to tell you the truth. I hope I have the courage to do that sort of thing some day.
Great Pictures Great Pictures yesterday and I can't wait to see a few of you in Saris or with the temple elephants. Sorry about the dance. Are you still doing the yoga and the martial arts? Your group of fellow culturites sound quite cool. Send pictures of them too. Have fun and we love you very much.

Wow. It sounds amazing. I finally got to a computer and had time to read all of your updates...i wish i could've gone with you, but as it is I'm still in illinois on my roadtrip and we won't be home for another week or so. I can't wait to see these pictures you keep threatening to post, and I have some pictures of my roadtrip that I think you'll find amusing. Anyways thats all for now. Have lots of fun for me.
Kerala What an amazing contrast between Kerala and where you previously were in India. Wherever you go, however, there seem to be saris for sale! I have lost count but it sounds like you have enough saris to wear a different one every day for the rest of your trip. Please tell us more about your new vegan diet. Are you craving a hamburger? Also, have you seen the temple elephant? Take care. Love, Jo
i'm glad you're overcoming your homesickness. i was worried that might happen when you left venki uncle and sue aunty. and you do need to post pictures!
your classes sound neat. who needs a personal trainer when you've got mohiniattam? ;)
Chaperones are good Jenn, we love your blogs and even though we have never met the rest of Nandy's family, we love them, too! We're so glad you are safely arrived at VKV and hope you have a wonderful time there as well. In the meantime, stay safe and watch out for people trolling for hook ups. All our love, MOM and DAD
