goodbye Oz It must have been a difficult departure, knowing it would be a while before you could return. It was nice you could connect with so many there and have an early Christmas. I thought of you yesterday as we were at Pricilla, Queen of the Desert, not because of the flaming gays of course but because of the setting.
Best wishes for the season and for a great cruise aboard G o' W. Hope you can avoid any random oil slicks. Will you be sailing it north this year?
Merry Christmas,
Joan and John
Hi Folks,
Enjoyed receiving your latest blog, as always. My mother passed away in late Oct. so will plan to visit Australia in the winter of 2012. I'll be seeking any advice, suggestions etc. which you may wish to share. In the interim, we're off to Vegas Jan 9 with Tom Newcomb and company, Feb. March in North Port Florida and a cruise starting April 3. We hope to stop and visit John & Judi as you did 2 years ago on the way home. Let us know if your boating plans for this winter will allow us to get together.
Brian & Lydia.
Thanks for the great Blog. Australia is a fascinating country with a lot sightseeing locations. Espcially Sidney was on my trip (February until April) a great city with a lot of Asians. In this way you won't miss Asian stuff. It's different from Munich where I live. Here, you just have two korean restaurants but many Chinese food locations. Oo
Talked with Mcghee this morning. Seeing your 'blog' he is checking his bank account. I am afraid that if you keep this up you will put him in the poor house.
Have you thought of hiring out to the Oz tourist dept.? Many thanks for providing such a georgeous respite from Holland Centre winter.
Looking forward to meeting in the New Year. Love to Joy

Hey, I represent that crack ... Oh, right, I'm not a New Yorker any longer. In fact, I'm on the loose having driven from Jacksonville to Aiken SC, then to Grand Rivers KY to meet with Evil Dave, from there Dave and I drove to Omaha, NE where he lives for a pot luck Thanksgiving. I've since continued west to Centennial, CO where I am staying with a friend who joined me in the Exumas last year. Looking forwards to some hiking, a day on snow mobiles, possible skiing, and a ride up Pikes Peak ... will be wearing a LOT of clothing. Cheers. Peter
You know how to live life to the full Once again, spectacular pictures. Thanks for sharing your journey. Australis is definitely on the bucket list. Look forward to seeing you at Christmas. i trust you are going to be our Santa Ian?? all that lovely food you are devouring you will fit into the Santa Costume very nicely HAHAHHAHA. LUV LIN AND RICK
What a great collection of shots; it definitely gives someone who hasn't been there a clear feel for what you saw. Ken is working on our "winter stick" for the boat mooring today, but I can't wait to show these to him. He was in Vietnam in 1964, 1965.
Amazing Photos and Scripts Love all that you take the time to share with everyone. Photos are amazing! Your journey appears to be one of
the most rewarding of many of the last years. Keep having fun and sending reports that brighten our days.
Hi Marlene and Ian.
Thank you for the update.
Connie and I just arrived home from Australia today. The 4 week trip wasn't enough time so we plan on returning in the future. We spent the last week touring the Blue Mountains and Sydney. We had some rain but lots to see and do!
When will you arrive in Australia?
Cheers

The Great Travelers Hi There, sounds like you have been having lots of fun on your travels and indeed the pictures depict that.
You have some great shots and hopefully you will do up one of your magnificent albums. Take care. Have
a wonderful time in Australia if we dont see you before. LUV LIN AND RICK
Great photos and looks like a great trip! The lows are sometimes the funny things you remember for the longest time! We just got back from the beach...whole family was there for two weeks....busy, busy! We have four grandchildren now..1, 2, 4 and 6 years old! Steph and Ian were with us from Cayman...on their way to moving to Calgary! No more great winters in Cayman for us, I guess! I spent 5 weeks there this spring! But then, there is always skiing near Calgary. Glad you had a good trip! Take care.
A slice of life! What an experience! I guess the" highs and lows" are really just reality otherwise you've got Utopia. You'll remember those experiences for a long time. I would enjoy the retelling of them. Let me know when you're in Mississauga - we'll do lunch, hopefully. Eugene Madden
Perfect Summer for this Adventure! Hi Ian and Marlene,....Wow! it looks like you had a great time....and the weather this year couldn't have been more conducive to at trip like this.....great to take your time and actually see things on the way...too many times we travel to get there ....and then get back....with out enjoying the things on the way.....Retirement allows us to savor the small things.....so glad you did......
Love to see the pictures ....and read clips of your travels....gun toting cowboys and all...lol.....we are really enjoying this great summer on our deck....usually we are out west and try to get all our traveling in before I head back to school....Take Care...Ruth & Jim
Travel time Someone said "It is better to travel than arrive". Keep travelling as we enjoy your journeys almost as much.
Perhaps we could fit a round of golf in when you have rested and recovered.
Better and Better Hi Marlene and Ian, gawd, I LOVE your blogs. Wonderful to see Lukie in the pics along with the grown ups.
So many of the places you described in words and pics, I have seen too and it's wonderful country, so sharp and sculptured. Geology is the best architect, geology and time.
I had to laugh at the antics with the camper and the wild cowboys along the way, funny from my vantage point.
All the best.
Party on...

Another season Another season and all is well. Good to know that in spite of the weather setbacks everything worked and you both look awfully well. Think of the stories you have about the summer that never was to compare with our stories of the winter that never was. On reflection I think that warm beats out cold!!
What are your rates as a writer and photographer of 'blogs'?
Have asafe retrurn and we will see you both in May.
Judi/John
We are retired school principals (Peel, Ontario - Canada). Our fair weather home is at Sauble Beach, Ontario Canada.
In the winter we roam, trying to keep warm and looking for new adventures. This is a record of our travels.... full info
