Imprisoned Eric
The laws in other countries are different yes, but I always hear how dangerous places are every time I go there. I was told that Australia was dangerous. I wonder how many people sit in US jails for crimes that they did not commit. I had a wonderful time in Nicaragua and would recommend especially the incredible Isla Ometepe and the Hotel Castillo in Altragracia. I heard only good things from travellers about Granada. I would give the Solentiame Islands a miss unless you bring your own canoe and fishing pole. Then it would be a world class place to hang out...

Get there soon?
Just caught a program on a young man by the name of Eric Volz imprisoned, actually held hostage in Nicaragua for a crime he didn't commit. You may really want to rethink your stay because this country sounds like it is not safe for tourists, actually for humans.

jack ass 3 THE MOVIE FROM LATIN AM
What kind of stupid hare brained idea was that? I could see trying to save money in Europe but as cheap as latin america is, why bother. I hope you are never one of my tenants. But thanks for sharing , we all do stupid things.

With that leaf in your hat and blue butterfly mating rituals... plus Arisa kissing the tree... Midori (staying home and avoiding the Jaguars) may have been the only rational person in Central America.

Enjoying these Journals.
Mark, I'm a bit late to the party, but enjoying the show. I'm back from vacation on Chappaquiddick Island and while I had my own encounter with the local rat community, it is neither as dramatic or funny as your shower story.

We stayed in the dorms
I know it is posh, but we stayed in the dorms, ate the included free breakfast and went on the free guided tour of the national park. No way I am paying $120 to stay in the woods....

Midoris payback for the rat Shower place?
Los Quetzales looks very nice! What is my brother doing staying there? Has to be a story as to how the tight ass ends up shelling out $120 per person for accommodations. I suspect it has something to do with taking his wife to a place where the main feature is having a shower with a rat. You are all legends!

It might be better than Rush Limbaugh
Sometimes it's better if you don't understand what they are saying. When will you guys be back in Florida?

News from the homefront
Thanks for the update on your travels. It sounds as if you are having a blast!. We are still laughing at some of the accounts of what happened. We are both doing good. Mom had her second cataract surgery yesterday and is doing great. Can't wait for you to get home and give us a first-hand account of all of the actions - rats, rocks, and all And we are sure that Arisa will have a gazillion pictures to show. Keep us posted. We love you and miss you. Mom and Dick

Glad you made it.
I can only image your flying surf board adventure. Glad they must still be usable or you would have left them on the road side. I have tried the same adventure with droping the family off. It never seems to work. Always too much stuff for them to drag around with out me. It wouldn't travel without some adventure. Ahh, the touristy travel destinations you pick. I can image how well you blend in with the natives. Now for a laugh, image how much I would stick out of the crowd there. You know me, I am sooooo subtle. Congradulations, you made it, glad you are having fun. Oh, I went to the Why not on Sat. They had a Comedian similar to Jim Carrey style. He was so funny I had difficulty breathing. Missed having you there to share the experience. Best wishes on your trip. Gotta start work now. Its 9:42am.
