I've made it to Alice Springs, in the centre of Australia! It's much drier here which is a blessed relief, although it's still good and hot. Since I last posted I've been to Katherine, where we took a cruise on the gorge system. The rock formations there are amazing, but the highlight was scrambling across rocks to a plunge pool at the base of a waterfall where we washed off all the sweat with a fabulous swim. One of the guys on my tour summed it up best when he said "This is the best water in the history of water"! Last night we stayed at a cattle station in Banka Banka, for a taste of the experience the early settlers had. We slept in traditional Aussie swags which are canvas beds with a little mattress
