Koala "Bear" You are so right but for the children in my life and especially the ones I am heading for in Aus, the words are pretty well universally understood.
But thanks for the comment and really interesting to hear about your Hillman event. Have been in touch with the Hillman Club in Sydney and hope that we can all meet up and have a session at the end of a successful epic adventure for the both of us.
GB2AUS Great to see the blog entries, very glad that all is going well and you are now on your second continent, only one more to go!!! Good plan with the springs, I am sure you will not forget to beef up the tyre pressures to cope with the weight.
Wishing you well and watching carefully. Barry, send my regards to John

Koala bear I am following your epic trip with great interest. At the moment my wife and I are participating in the National Hillman Rally in Geelong Victoria Australia. We are driving a HILLMAN Gazelle (not a Singer). The rally is run every two years in a different location, this year there are about 45 cars present.
However I must take you to task about the KOALA BEAR there is no such animal it is smiply called a KOALA and not a bear they tend to get very upset when called a bear.
Good luck I will be following you.
hurray! Well done guys to have got so far so fast and without incident. The blog makes great reading...would have been better still if you had actually met a bear, but I suppose you can't have it all. Glad the Hillman is behavng but keeping you on your toes. Keep motoring on. !
hello from france sorry you had such awful weather through France!! Pleased to see from the photos that you are getting on well with the locals - following the route avidly - and look forward to your next blog
big hug Christine
At the beginning of 2008 two of us were discussing cars while John was reading his Classic Car magazine and read out an advertisement asking for entrants to take part in the re-run of the greatest and longest endurance rally of all time – the 1968 London to Sydney race, which was won by Andrew Cowan in a Hillman Hunter – now a classic car.
