Well well well... Arambol, or used to be known as Harmal, is located 17km north of Anjuna. It's well known for it's hippie vibe and I'm not surprised; saw all the various kinds of hippies from the original to wannabe; and also traveller like me who just want to enjoy his getaway with a cup of tchai. With my bag-pack and stuff, I tried walking down along Glatonsbury St to find Chillies Guesthouse. I called up Derrick Fernandez the day before, and booked a room. He quoted 300Rps, well couldn't ask for a much better deal. To my dismay, he kinda forgot to reserve a room for me, despite the reservation I made the day before. A guy brought me down to a small alley nearby the German Bakery, and asked me if I'm looking at ... read more

So, from my Costa da Gama Homestay in Fort Kochin, together with Helen from England, we shared a rickshaw to get to Ernakulam Railway Station, took us about 15-30 minutes to get there. We were worried for we might've missed the train. However, Benson assure us that we'll be there on time. Well, that's how relaxed South Indians are. We reached the station, and I decided to get some knick-knacks for my train journey. A lot of people keep telling me not to buy anything in the train station, even from the chai-wallahs. Well, better be safe than sorry. Helen and I went on separate ways, she was in S6 coach and I was in S11 coach; Sleeper class. Ok, I was quite skeptical about the sleeper class, because it looks horrible to me. I requested ... read more

So.. I survived the bus ride from Pondicherry to Ernakulam! Cost me 1000Rps from Pondicherry to Kerala by night bus. Expensive. The day before, I called up Benson from Costa da Gama Guesthouse and reserve a double room there. I intend to stay for about 3-4 nights in Fort Kochin. I got off from the bus and got onto a rickshaw and told him the address. He was puzzled, but I guess Indians don't like to disappoint their guest eventhough they know nuts about the area. It took us almost 45 minutes to get to Fort Kochin from Ernakulam due to traffic congestion. The driver got lost after awhile, and was going all around Fort Kochin (such a small town!) Afterwhich I paid 250Rps for the rickshaw, I was still cursing on the fact that tourist ... read more

First of all, this trip lasted me for about 2-3months... And I must say, it's full of surprises. Welcome to India! My flight 9W15 (Jet Airways) touched down in Chennai about 1040am local time. Chennai overall was a dirty, polluted, chaotic, noisy and irritating. Told myself, "Ok Han, don't get scammed, don't get too paranoid.. just take it easy boy, you're in a foreign land.. and this land is full of surprises, don't let your guard down!" Ok, so after I collected my baggage from the conveyor belt I went to the prepaid taxi counter to book a taxi to bring me to the town area. Oh wait... I didn't have Lonely Planet with me... just notes of where to go in Chennai. Counter: So where to Sir? Me: Err... Counter: ??? Me: (Suddenly thought of ... read more
